UPDATED ONCE MORE!

The time I have spent here has obviously been constructive, the better writing skills being evident as one. Since I love this album to bits, I felt my opinion on it had become out dated as well as not doing the album justice so I have re-worked it with loads more information so here goes!

:) Mike.

Introduction
*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Destiny's Child are back with their third album "Survivor" and hopefully this will live up to their past efforts!
I ordered this off Amazon.co.uk and do not regret it one bit! Read the opinion to find out!
After the various re-shuffles within the group (Le Toya and La Tavia leaving, introducing Michelle and Farrah who later left) The group finally settled to a three piece and they have become the biggest girl band in the world.
This album is Destiny's Child's third album after their success with "The Writings on the Wall" and their debut "Destiny's Child".

*~* Destiny's Child have stormed back up the album charts with this album *~*

The Album Tracks
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

After listening to this album continuously, I can now give more accurate ratings for each track.

The track listing includes the number one hits "Independent Women Part 1" and "Survivor".

Independent Women [3:41]

Well I’m sure you’ve all heard this song which is on the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack. This song is a great track that is well deserved to be on this album. It has got great beats as well as a good intro. The lyrically fast song which is a great characteristic of Destiny’s Child’s music is just perfect in this song. 9/10

Survivor [4:14]

One of my favourites on the album, this was the second release from DC from this album and what a hit it was! I just love the string accompaniment that comes with this song. Other good features to the song includes the fast sung lyrics once more which has thought provoking meaning once more and that great video that accompanied the single where they were stranded on an island. This song has no faults! 10/10

Bootylicious [3:27]

The strange sounding "Bootylicious” was the next track to be released in the summer and is a great dance-floor type track very funky sadly it only reached number 2 thanks to Atomic Kitten! Thanks girls! The song includes a great sample and it is a really catchy song. When I first heard the song, I thought it was a great let down but this song certainly is a grower and you need to give it time. It really is funky can you handle this? 8/10

Nasty Girl [4:17]

Track 4 "Nasty Girl" is a great track which disses women again like "Survivor" with lyrics like "Nasty put some clothes on" it must be good. The song has a great vocal part and the chorus is really catchy. My favourite part of the song is around the middle of the track where the mood seems to change and has a funky little section. I love this song and it could be a possible release! 9/10

Fancy [4:12]

The next track "Fancy" is again, one of my favourites as its really good, it has a great orchestral intro, which begins the song introducing the soft gradual beats with great harmonies! I cannot stress how cool this intro is! The girl’s voices on this song are great especially in the climatic ending to the choruses. 9/10

Apple Pie A La Mode [2:58]

A short song and in some respects is a good thing as this song doesn’t appeal to me. Great harmonies and backing are in "Apple Pie A La Mode" which is a rather strange sounding title! With great backing oohs to add to the effect this song is good! The song does grow on you a bit more each time and does give a great contrast to the next track. 6/10

Sexy Daddy [4:06]

The great sounding "Sexy Daddy" is a great little funky number with the intro having great harmonic phrase " Everybody listening, I wanna see you dance. I don't think you heard me, I wanna see you dance, Get up and dance, Get up and dance" absolutely amazing harmonies are here which compliments the song and their great voices! Nice harp and great syncopated beats giving a more urban feel. I love this song and it too could be a release! 10/10

Perfect Man [3:41]

The next song, "Perfect Man" might be a familiar track if you have the Romeo Must Die soundtrack. This is great song with great-syncopated beats. This track deserves to be on this album as it is just good to listen to. It is more RnB influenced than other tracks on this album. 7.5/10

Independent Women Part II [3:45]

The next track, "Independent Women Part II" has a great intro, which reminds me of a cartoon tune, not sure which one though. This song is rather different from the original but uses the same kind of plot. The song uses similar words but the sound is quite different! It is has more musical influences than the more pop dominated part 1. There are various sounds that are made by the backing vocalists which are great including ‘oohs’. 7/10

Happy Face [4:19]

A really great different tune emerged from this album! "Happy Face" is a surprising alternative to the usual DC track, it is more like a dance track. A great feel good track "I woke up this morning the sunshine was shining, gonna put on a happy face" Like the little claps in the song as well. The song basically tells of such things as taking things for granted but mainly, the tune and melody are more important than the lyrics here. The song becomes a bit annoying by the end as it’s a bit too repetitive. 8.5/10

Dance with me [3:43]

"Dance with me" begins with a computer sounding tune which repeats and then begins, it is a mellower track, not as good as the previous songs but still credible. I still after months of listening to this album, cannot get into this song. The song seems repetitive and the riff in the background gets rather annoying. 5/10

My Heart Still Beats [4:08]

"My Heart Still Beats" is the next track which is a contrasting song to the whole album so far and is very slow and ballad-like. Beyoncé shows her softer side to her voice as she once again sings this song. The song has a great piano accompaniment and the climax in the song is handled well and really shows Beyoncé’s voice well. A very emotional song, which wouldn’t go amiss on a Mariah Carey album. 9.5/10

Emotions [3:56]

A harmonic chord is what first opens another mellower track called "Emotions" which is a cover of a Bee Gee's song. I think its great Harmonic chords are just great! The song is just perfect for the girls to sing and it was made for them! Phil Collins’ version is no match in my view. The voices of great female singers compliment the song. I can’t stop playing this track, it is full of great stuff and I hope they release this as a single because it is a great ballad to release! 10/10

Brown Eyes [4:36]

The water sounding "Brown Eyes" is again another slow track a great smooching song so get smooching! When I first heard this song, I wasn’t really keen on it but this song is a real grower and is one of my favourites now. I particularly like the backing vocals which maintain a high standard throughout and also the climax at the end of the song. 8.5/10

Dangerously In Love [5:06]

"Dangerously in Love" is a great Spanish sounding track which opens with an acoustic guitar. I really love the song, it starts off slow but gradually gains some pace. A nice song. Beyoncé once again sounds great in this song. I don’t know why but this song is rather evoking as it stirs things up and you really do get caught up in the music. 9.5/10

The Story of Beauty [3:31]

"The Story of Beauty" has one of the best intros ever with its great harp and synths. A real funky number with great beats. It also has a great instrumental harp and water drop sound in the back make this song really nice. The lyrics are very well done as they deal with the theme of child abuse and tells the story of a young girl and the relationship with her step-dad. The lyrics are very thought provoking and send a good message which deals with a difficult subject especially in a song. “She rebelled and one day and the young girl fell in love with another man like her stepdad. He abused her emotionally and made her feel like she was worthless”. I love this song and it really should be listened to and released! 10/10

Gospel Medley [3:24]

"Gospel Medley" is a nice collection of gospel songs dedicated to Andretta Tillman as was "Amazing Grace" on "The Writings on the Wall" which includes tracks "You've been so good" "Now Behold The Lamb" "Jesus Loves Me" and "Total Praise" this is a great collection as it demonstrates DC's great harmonics and being sung unaccompanied, it is very difficult and the progression to the final end is just climatic to say the least! Well I like it anyway! 9/10

Outro (DC-3) Thank You [4:04]

The final track "Outro (DC-3) Thank You" which thanks the girls in the band. and DC-3 referring to the three girls. This addition cannot really be classed as a song but it is a good ending to this great album.

Verdict?
*~*~*~*~*

I'm really surprised by this album as it really demonstrates the girls great voices, I knew they were great singers but not this good, well this album demonstrates this very very well! The album is crammed full of hits, some better than some of the releases! The album has great upbeat songs as well as ballads and this album deserves to be number 1. Don’t take my word for it, having the album go back up to number 1 speaks for itself!

Recommend it 100%

For 18 tracks and also a CD extra, which include the "Survivor" video you can't go wrong!

I still can't stop listening to it!!!!

Also look out for Beyonce who will be appearing as the lead in the film "Carmen" of which I'm sure she will do well at!
