Advantages: Great album, great voice, great tracks Disadvantages: none for me
quite nice.
And you are cross the dancefloor
Let me buy you a drink or two
And you could be my star for weekends
Do you like your Hollywood?
As far as I'm concerned, the lesson's been learned
At least that's what I understood
9} Lost On The Stoop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***This is a track which reminds me a little of James Blunt's style, but it still has that Daniel Powter feel to it, if that makes sense? He has a very distinct falsetto sound to his voice which doesn't always come out in all of the songs, and even in this one it only comes into it a few times!
Shed off and peal
I'm in no shape or form
You're just a reject coming down for more
When two are receiven, you know I could be there
Soon you're laughing, soon you're laughing my way
10} Give Me Life
***This has the feel of a Macy Gray track ...
Advantages: Heart warming, endearing, beautiful descriptive writing Disadvantages: Younger readers could struggle with long description and technical sailing terms
~~~
Having been granted permission by their absent father via telegram, John, Susan, Titty and Roger sail in the Swallow to the island that they name Long Island.
Their enjoyment is spoiled when they encounter the Amazons who lay claim to their island. They soon call a truce, though, agreeing to a challenge, the result of which will settle their dispute. They soon become firm friends.
There are a couple of adventures along the way, the main one being a theft for which the children are prime suspects, but mostly the story ambles gently along describing in detail their sailing expeditions, eating in the open air, swimming and fishing, exploring and sleeping under the stars. A truly idyllic summer holiday!
~~~My View~~~
This is a really wholesome, but tame read. I somehow missed out on it as a child, of which I am sorry, because I can see ...
Summary: reasonably enjoyable if there is nothing better, lively, trashy fantasy
"Swallowing Darkness" is the seventh Meredith Gentry novel and the first one I read. Despite that I had no problems at all in following the plot - even though there isn't that much obvious exposition in the novel.
Meredith NicEssus is a faerie princess in a slightly alternative world (i.e. US) where faeries are known by the humans - a treaty allowed them to settle in the US three hundred years on the condition that they don't engage in war or make humans worship them.
The faerie courts are obsessed by purity of blood and even more so by purity of looks and Meredith, who is mortal, curvy and has not just human but also lesser fey ancestors, flees the Faerie and starts working as a private investigator in the human world. But her disguise ends when ...
Album Notes
Debut album from former GusGus lead-singer and chief songwriter, Daniel Agust. Venturing away from the dance-friendly beats which brought his band considerable success, his first solo offering is a fine collection of melodic pop layered with strings and ambient elements. The album was co-produced by Agust and Bix (Madonna, Sigur Ros) and features the single 'If You Leave Me Now'.
