Advantages: a great film, catchy music
Disadvantages: quite a dark film to watch

...While sitting with the DVD remote control in my hand, eagerly waiting for the lay menu to appear, hundreds of thoughts ran through my head. "What was it going to be like?" "Will it be enjoyable?" etc etc. Up pops the menu, I press play, excited as anything. Tim Burton is known for his special takes on things, this is no different, just the opening credits are enough to tell you what you're in for, and that's one hell of a film! With Johnny Depp playing Sweeney Todd and Helena Bonham Carter playing Mrs Wilhemina Lovett, you can't go wrong. Depp's singing voice is so husky and gritty, so well suited for the part, where as Carter's singing voice is somewhat sweet and innocent for the most part, it really gives the character a twist. Advantages: An enjoyable album with catchy melodies and haunting lyrics
Disadvantages: slightly sinister

...Bonham Carter) Mrs Lovett tells of her business as a pie maker -- she lets us know that she has neither the means or the money to make decent pies, so she doesn't! This is a dark humoured song, sang to Sweeney as he sits eating one of the pies described!! "The worst pies in London... Even that's polite! The worst pies in London! If you doubt it take a bite!" --x--4. Poor Thing--x--- (Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter) "There was a barber and his wife. And he was beautiful... A proper artist with a knife, but they transported him for life. And he was beautiful... Barker his name was. Benjamin Barker." This rather sad lyric is sang by Depp as a ballad, here we are given an insight into Benjamin Barker, the man who had a good life in London with his wife,Lucy, and daughter Johnanna....However the song soon takes... Advantages: something to take away from the movie
Disadvantages: short listening span not something you're likely to return to frequently

...This is deffinetly the kind of album you should only buy after seeing the film. it's not easy to just pick this up and start listening because the songs all build up to tell a story which can is complicated to form in your head. the film itself is great and it's what lead me to make my purchase, the great factor in these songs is that it is actually johnny depp and helen bonham carter who sing in the majority of the songs and not some voice artists as originally suspected, again it is not something i would recomend for the everyday purchase and it is not something you are likely to listen to on a regular basis but if you enjoyed the film like me then you will be pleased with this album...
