Beautiful laid-back music. Can be found on Amazon for £6.97, Wea (Audio CD) - April 1984.
James Taylor is famous for his acoustic guitar and soothing vocals with laid-back accompaniment (including influential singer/songwriter Carole King on piano). These songs draw on folk, soul, and rock influences.
The cover reads:
"Built around a winning collection of songs, including the major hit "Fire and Rain," James Taylor's second LP as a solo performer features the country-flavoured musicianship of such notables as bassist Randy Meisner (of the Eagles), steel guitarist Red Rhodes, fiddler Chirs Darrow and pianist Carole King. When it first appeared in 1970, Sweet Baby James thrust Taylor into the forefront of the emerging singer/songwriter movement of the Seventies, achieving Top Five chart status and remaining a best-seller for some two years."

I picked up this CD first out of curiosity after hearing excerpts of it at someone else's house. I'm especially fond of 'Sweet Baby James' the title track as it has a wonderful catchy melody and the words are soothing including... 'Goodnight you moonlight ladies, Rockabye sweet baby James, Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose, Won't you let me go down in my dreams, And Rockabye sweet baby James.' This track may be about the Cowboys, Women and Beer, but the sentiments are very comforting.
'Fire and Rain' is another track that was very famous in the seventies, so I'm led to believe. There are lots of little gems on this CD and the more you listen to it, I believe the more you get out of it.
I recommend this CD for people who like soothing background music. However it probably wouldn't suit modern tastes of people who go for the clashy stuff. This is definately not like that.
