Advantages: Better than the first Disadvantages: can be a bit slow in places
Kisscut by Karin Slaughter is the second in a series of books that feature Police Chief Jefferey Tolliver and Sara Linton the town's paediatrican and medical examiner to name just a few familiar characters.
I like this style of writing because it features characters you know and you can "follow their fortunes" as it were. There are issues tackled within this book that were touched upon in the first, "Blindsighted" but saying that, it isn't necessary to have read it because Slaughter does well in explaining the gist of things without being repetitive.
Kisscut focuses on what seems to be an individual tragic shootout at the local skating rink on a Saturday night. Tolliver and Linton are there and as Police Chief and Medical Examiner, become involved. At first glance this appears to be a tragic one off incident but the autopsy ...
Advantages: a brilliant follow up novel Disadvantages: none-going from strength to strength
society. As with her last novel, some scenes may make readers uncomfortable though it is not as gory as her debut .
Nevertheless this is another fine example of female crime writing at its very best-espiecally in the way repercussions from the last novel's aftermath follow the characters into this next chapter of their lives.
With giving anything away, one character in paticular now finds she has a lot to cope with and this is an ongoing theme that carries through all of Slaughter's future entries in this series.
Much more than the crimes themselves,Slaughter's novels seem to want to show us that all our actions and past events have an impact on our current lives and that only by dealing with them and not shutting them away can we grow past these events and become stronger.
Read this book-it is every bit as good as her earlier novel ...
Advantages: Very readable, short chapters Disadvantages: Suspense of disbelief required

Unfortunately, this time, the man in question is found murdered, and Sibylla is the prime suspect. Fleeing the hotel, she manages to keep herself hidden, but soon, there is a second murder and Sibylla is much sought after. Can she keep away from the clutches of the police until her name is cleared? And is there anything she can do to clear her name?
I have read and enjoyed one or two books by Karin Alvtegen before, so was more or less sure that I would have an entertaining read. Alvtegen is a Swedish author who tends to tell her stories from the point of view of the victim ...
