Advantages: Just brilliant in every way Disadvantages: None
a joy to read from start to finish, and really had me sitting and thinking as I turned the final few pages. It is really a moral story, with a bit of magic thrown in to cheer it up, but come the ending everything comes together in a quite shocking ending which really made me sit up and reread what I had just read! Ahern seems to have the ability to create a magical world on paper which you can visualise yourself so deeply that you are thrown so deeply into the story, you want to keep reading right until the end all in one go! The shiny snowflake cover allows this book to be a great Christmas gift as well as a book that is going to be great to bring out for Christmas again and again. I borrowed by copy from the library but will getting myself a copy as soon as its out in paperback. Highly recommended, I absolutely loved it - this is one book ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: You'll never get those 88 minutes back
Directed by Roger Kumbel, The Sweetest Thing stars Cameron Diaz as Christine, a 28 year-old commitment-phobe, and Christina Applegate and Selma Blair as her best friends Courtney and Jane.
Apparently, screenwriter Nancy Pimental based the main characters on herself and her best friend, the actress Kate Walsh (you may know her as Dr Addison Montgomery on Grey's anatomy and Private Practice).
I went to see this film when it was released in 2002, thinking it would be a lighthearted comedy perfect for a lazy afternoon. As it turned out, although certainly lighthearted, it was sadly lacking in the comedy department.
The film opens with a series of men telling us (the audience) about Christine Walters. These are her disgruntled ex-suiters, who complain that she's a "player", doesn't want anything serious, said ...
Advantages: Cameron Diaz, Gross Out Funny, Good For A Laugh Disadvantages: Bad, Bad Film
will have her? And more importantly do you like Pina colada?
Cameron Diaz is very well cast in The Sweetest Thing. I am always surprised about how natural she is on screen. She really does have a massive screen presence, which is missing from a lot of stars today. The minute you see her, you fall in love with her as she had an infectious smile and a stunning personality, which shines through in every role she does, including a big green ogre! I think she will be in movies for a long time, as she obviously has talent and a whole load of charm. As Christina Walters she takes full advantage of the dancing aspects of her character and simply sparkles through the film with sheer beauty. I think it is a great performance, which GREATLY helps the film.
Christina Applegate is not my most favorite of actress?s, but I do recognize that she has ...
