Take Me Home (A Tribute To John Denver) - Various Artists

Advantages: A moving biopic.
Disadvantages: Lip syncing.

...recommend this film for it's realism of book to film, and for the fine songs. The film features 15 John Denver original recordings, and it has a running time of 90 minutes, and is rated PG. Take Me Home was heavily critiscised for the lip syncing, and poor acting by Chad Lowe. But I feel the whole film was very well done, and a fitting tribute. It's just a matter of opinion I suppose. Cover versions of songs by people like Tom Paxton and Jacques Brel failed to consolidate his appeal to the mainstream. The 1970's saw a massive change, starting in 1971 with his "Take Me Home Contry Roads." This is a song which I am sure you all have heard: Almost Heaven, West Virgina, Blue Ridge Mountain, Shanando River, Life is Old there, Older than the Tree's, Younger than the Mountains, Blowing like the Breeze, Take me Home Country Roads, Back to the Place I Belong, West Virgina, Mountain Moma, Take me Home, now Country Roads!
