Advantages: A strong album bridging the divide between Hardcore Punk and Hard Techno Disadvantages: Album contains a lot of screaming
Enter Shikari have enjoyed a great deal of success this year and they have no one to thank for that other than themselves. I truly respect the band for the way they have achieved everything off of their own backs, and really made a success of themselves without the need for major label backing. It is a testament to the changing state of the music industry nowadays that bands are able to do this and it truly is a great thing to see. On display on this album are the singles 'Mothership', 'Sorry You're Not A Winner/OK, Time For Plan B', 'Anything Could Happen In The Next Half Hour', and the most recently released 'Jonny Sniper' as well as some other great tracks mixing the two different forms of hardcore (Hardcore Punk and Hardcore Techno). It is well worth noting that 5 of the 11 tracks on display here have already been released as singles, highlighting just how strong an album this really is. Although on paper not the album's strongest single, 'Sorry You're Not A Winner' was a definite silent success - enjoying extensive airplay at Rock clubs across the country for many months. It's not hard to see why this single was such a success on the club scene; the track was made for making a drunken fool of yourself, clapping along in time to the record. I myself have a definite softspot for this one, there's just something about it that makes it incredibly enjoyable and listenable. It's the sort of track you'll have on repeat and happily sing (and clap) along to for hours on end.
I think that 'Labyrinth' is probably my favourite non-single album track here; the synths sound great, and the track as a whole just all seems to fit together perfectly. Right from the exciting synth opening, you know that this one is going to be something really rather special and it certainly doesn't disappoint as the track progresses. At just under 4 minutes in length, this one never fails to impress and maintains all it's energy and excitement throughout.
If I were to have one qualm with the band; it would be with their screaming. They sound so much more at home when they are singing as opposed to screaming, and to greatly reduce the use of it would definitely benefit them I feel. At times it just seems that the band are overplaying the screaming element of their music a bit and they are just so much more than this. It is often the case that bands scream a lot in order to compensate for the fact that vocally they aren't up to much, however Enter Shikari have great vocals that should definitely be forefronted more. It is for this reason therefore that I love the track 'Adieu', a track that is completely free of screaming. This is a nice, relaxed, chilled out track forefronting the bands fine vocal talent that works incredibly well. The track builds and builds, leading up to an impressive finale - a great way for the band to say goodbye and bid us farewell from the album. Why therefore the track doesn't finish off the album is beyond me, as after this one we get the incredible 'Ok, Time For Plan B', followed by the Outro which is a short but sweet musical closer for the album.
Having played at Download Festival, Give It A Name, and Glastonbury this year - the band then went on to rock the Reading and Leeds festivals over the summer at the end of August. The band put on one hell of a live show and I'd highly recommend their live antics to anyone; the band are energetic, enthusiastic, and most importantly confident and charismatic performers. Enter Shikari are an extremely strong young band and given time will surely mature and progress as a band. I myself am already greatly anticipating what the band can come up with in time for album number two.

Advantages: Mind blowing revolutionary sounds. Dazzleing Lyrics. Disadvantages: May be too much of a difference for some people.
The post-hardcore phenomenon, Enter Shikari, from St Albans, with their unique combination of synthesizer, guitar and powerful vocals, in 2007 took the teenage 'hardcore listener' world by storm. This band have given a whole new meaning to the average 'Gig', and turned it into a heart pumping two hour party, that leaves the audience buzzing and needing more. With the spectacle of glow sticks and finger lights, it isn't much short of a modern 'Rave'.
... ...with their own record label, Ambush Reality, turning down major labels like Sony and EMI, astounded the music industry with their remarkable success. Before the sensation of Enter Shikari, some would say it was impossible for, four university students to smash the boundaries between musical genres, Trance and Hardcore and fuse them together to make a whole new mind blowing sound, like these guys have. Enter Shikari have set the ball rolling for the ...

Advantages: One good song. Disadvantages: The rest of the album is terrible.
This is going to be an unpopular review, but I'd like to voice my opinion on why I think this is an extremely overrated album. However, I'm not entirely full of rage when it comes to this album. Once I saw it begun selling extremely well at the music store I work for, I decided to buy a copy, spend an evening listening to it, and try to keep a clear mind throughout. This album is entirely one dimensional and once you've heard one track, you've heard ... ...vocals, even worse than that is the cheap sounding synthesizer beats which are usually out of place and extremely obnoxious. There aren't actually 17 tracks on the album, well not 'songs' per se. Quite a few of them are simply 'fillers' which introduce the next song, although this isn't the case for users of iTunes, as they are combined into the songs themselves. I'd like to at least give a good point about this album, and it comes in the form of ...

Advantages: Exciting new blend of trance-rock Disadvantages: some commercial "crowd pleaser" tracks
No doubt the pinnacle of Enter Shikari's perviously increasing carreer. I really enjoyed the increased use of trance/synth backing along with completely new tracks put alongside old time favourites.
I Was also a big fan of the whole "interlude" track idea, where some of the more main songs would be introduced with a shortened instrumental track to build up the effect.
However i do feel that this previously up-and-coming group has fallen victim ... ...there first real mainstream album.
An extreemly good band live, which is what i think helped them finally get to the well deserved position they are at now but i cant help but notice the feelings of "selling out" from some of their more "hardcore" fans that are around.
Regardless of all minor doubts, definitetly an album to own, if anything, for its supreme uniquness. ...

I absolutely love this album. No matter how many times you listen to it there is always something extra you pick up on. It has to be said, however, that the songs on this album have been enhanced somewhat from what they were originally a couple of years ago. Personally i like the new synth effect they have used in their songs but I can imagine that this may not be everyone's cup of tea. The songs have lost some of their "rough-and-ready" quality ... ...and structured. There are 17 tracks on the album but 6 of these are instrumental. I think this adds an excellent link between the fast moving songs and gives you time to soak up the lyrics. I really would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys hardcore music such as Alexisonfire or alternative such as smashing pumpkins, rise against etc. or even electro/trance music. ...

Advantages: DIfferent, Amazing, Good Beat. Disadvantages: Lots of Screaming
Amazing both live and on cd. with songs such as sorry your not and anything can happen in the next half hour enter shikari are going to make it bigger than a lot of bands in 2007. Ive seen them live and they blew me away. definately one of the best bands ive seen live. they sound the same live as they sound on the cd. they are a band that played a lot in High Wycombe near where i live before they made it big so i saw them before they became famous ... ...a very different sounds to alot of the more main stream bands. with a mix of screaming (which is over done slightly in some songs) and techno sounds it makes a really interesting sound. sort of like techno rock. im looking forward to their next album, and il be buying tickets to see their next tour. ...

Advantages: Unique, Different, Loads of energy, CD + DVD, Limited Edition Disadvantages: Not to everyones tastes
If you're like me, you like bands and musicians who do it differently to everyone else. I like music that isn't confined to one genre. I like anything that's different, new, fresh. I like music that's unique. I like bands and musicians that have something different about them. Whoever thought of blending 90's Trance with hardcore riffs and shouting was a genius. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, EnterShikari.
Hailing from St. Albans, England, all four members of EnterShikari (which means ''Enter the Hunter'' in Sindhi) really have created someting awesome. 'Taketo the Skies' is their debut album release, after releasing 3 EP's - 'Nodding Aquaintance' (2003), 'Sorry You're Not A Winner (2003)', and 'Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour' respectively. Forming in 2003, they havn't stopped touring since. They have a huge ...
I confess; I bought this albuk without knowing much about the band.
I'd heard "Sorry You're Not A Winner", "Anything Can Happen...", "We Can Breath In Space..." & "Johnny Sniper", liked the sound, and decided to go see them play Live.
I bought the Limited Edition Album merely because there was only a quid in it, and to be frank, i think the DVD is shit.
But, needless to say, the album is great, with strange interludes, and continuous chants of "And Still We Will Be Here, Standing Like Statues...", and all the old songs (except "We Can Breathe in Space...") and a new song, called "No Sssweat". I think that "No Sssweat" made the album, and is easily their best song (except perhaps "We Can Breathe In Space"), but the others are well worth paying for.!
Also, there were awesomne live!
For lovers of Trance, Metal and everyhting else ...
Advantages: Value for money, DVD Disadvantages: None
EnterShikari are not like any band you have heard before. A Great Debut Album. Some Amazing songs like anything can happen in the next half Hour and sorry your not a winner. A great Band from The UK, St. Albans City. There rise to fame was via Myspace Like some great Bands Bring me the horizon etc.
17 Tracks on one Album you cant get more value for money in my opinon then a DVD aswell. Anyone who has Heard Anything can happen in the next Half Hour will love this album. If you ever get the chance to see these live then do you wont be disappointed.
I recommend this album to anyone that wants to hear a band that are a bit different but in a good way. They have Trance mixed with Screamo. Very Catchy Songs. Value for money ...
