The post-hardcore phenomenon, Enter Shikari, from St Albans, with their unique combination of synthesizer, guitar and powerful vocals, in 2007 took the teenage 'hardcore listener' world by storm. This band have given a whole new meaning to the average 'Gig', and turned it into a heart pumping two hour party, that leaves the audience buzzing and needing more. With the spectacle of glow sticks and finger lights, it isn't much short of a modern 'Rave'.
After choosing to go alone in the music industry, with their own record label, Ambush Reality, turning down major labels like Sony and EMI, astounded the music industry with their remarkable success. Before the sensation of Enter Shikari, some would say it was impossible for, four university students to smash the boundaries between musical genres, Trance and Hardcore and fuse them together to make a whole new mind blowing sound, like these guys have. Enter Shikari have set the ball rolling for the British Hardcore revolution, and this being first and perhaps most important album of Enter Shikari's reign of "groundbreaking" success.
Following several single releases with two reaching number one in the rock chart, this album really does blow you away, from the very moment you pres play. The two minute intro 'Stand Your Ground This Is Ancient Land' plunges us into a fusion of synthesized sounds and sets the pace for this fascinating album. The second this is finished, we are bombarded by the adrenaline rush of the self titled song, 'Enter Shikari'. We instantly hear the roar of front man, Rou Reynolds' vocal chords, followed by the spine tingling resonance from the Synthesizers, yet again. Despite not being released as a single yet, this is one of the best tracks on the album.
Several songs on, and we hear the most successful track in Enter Shikari's repertoire so far, reaching number one in both the 'Rock chart' and the 'Indie chart'. Following its release 'Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour...' had thousands of entranced, listeners repeating it in their heads, and the remarkable quartet Enter Shikari burst on to the music scene.
Later on in the album we come to 'Sorry, you're not a winner'. Go to a teenage house party, or gathering and sooner or later you'll be sure to hear this tune blasting through the speakers and the whole room mesmerised by this unique 'experience'. Its lyrics, yet incredibly random, will have you gripping to the crisp sound of them.
After your first taste of 'Take to the skies', it won't be long until your eagerly anticipating new material from Enter Shikari, along with several thousands of fans worldwide. This album is an incredible marvel of revolutionary sound, and new beginnings for the music industry.
