This the new offering from the san Diego threesome Blink 182 takes the band back to it's earlier roots. By that i mean a more hardcore skate punk sound less associated with pop and pop fans. It is like a mix of both Dude Ranch and Buddha (but better quality obviously!) with sprinkles of Enema Of the State to give those newer fans something to sing along to, but giving the older fans (such as myself) a roller coaster ride of punk rock mayhem. The album itself is filled with laughs and gags, enough in fact to do a whole stage show on!! The quality of these jokes shows that Blink have not lost thier sense of humour and are still childish at heart even though they have quite obviously grown up a great deal. All of the gags come in Song form, and they are all funny as hell! Below I will write a track listings then a review of each song.

Now on to the song reviews…..

Anthem Part II – This is one of the best songs on the album. It starts off with the guitar and drums then the drum stops, then it starts again. Then the bass starts up after a bit. The lyrics are pretty good on this song but not the sort that you would expect from Blink 182.
“Everything has fallen to pieces, Earth is dying help me Jesus”.

Online Songs – This is also a good song, but not the best on the album. The singing starts out right away, and Mark is the singer for this song. The lyrics (and the name) suggest that this is about having a girlfriend who you know from a chat room who breaks up with you, but she lives quite near so you can’t avoid seeing her with others. “Josie, you’re my source of most frustration. Forget when I don’t meet e going on a expectations.”

First Date – This is obvious isn’t it! This is about gong out on a first date with a really beautiful girl and wanting to make the night seem like forever, and wishing you weren’t so nervous. Everyones been there right?
“ Is it cool if I hold your hand, is it wrong if I think it’s lame to dance?”

Happy Holidays You Bastard – This is a short song (42 seconds long) and is one of the comedy tracks I told you about. I haven’t got a clue what this one is about but it is pretty rude and crude. Also Mark will never talk to you again unless …
“Your mom will touch my cock, unless your dad will suck me off”

Story of a lonely Guy – This one is pretty good, but it gets a bit boring listening to it over and over. About being really sad, and not having a life or a girlfriend, but wanting one. That is harsh!
“so read my book with the boring ending, a short story of a lonely guy”

The Rock Show – This is the most well known song on the album purely because it was released as the first single. Great beat and amazing singing, but after litenin to it a couple of hundred times it starts to get a LITTLE boring. Great video though!!
“cos I fell in love with the girl at the rock show, she said what and I told her that I didn’t know”

Stay Together For The Kids – This is my favourite track on the album. It starts out slow and the bass doesn’t come in until the chorus, and it isn’t in the verse at all. This is about a kids parents who are staying together for their kid but arguing all the time. Meanwhile the kid understands that the parent s are fighting and he wishes that they would just break up.
“it’s hard to wake up, when the shades have been pulled shut, this house is haunted it’s so pathetic, it makes no sense at all”

Roller Coaster – This, once again, is about Falling in love and wanting to ask a girl out , but not having the guts. Trying to work up the guts….. not the best song on the album……
“and now I’m breathing deeply walking backwards, finding strength to call and ask her”

Reckless Abandon – This is also about growing up (I think), and how the band love those kids that are different and those that listen to the punk rock, and about parents not understanding what growing up is all about, and having a great summer with your friends.
“on and on, reckless abandon, something’s wrong, this is gonna shock them”

Every Time I Look For You – This is a bit of a weird song. Not the best song on the album, but not all that bad. I think that this one is about….wait while I think….it is about….looking for the girl of your dreams, but not being able to find her.
“Every time I look for you, the sun goes down”

Give Me On Good Reason – This one is about saying to the one you love, ‘give me one good reason why I should fit in and be the same as everyone else, and fit in, and not be different and who I want to be. When they want you to fit in with everyone.
“give me one good reason, why we need to be like them”

Shut Up – About being controlled by the one you love, and leaving them and not wanting to, wanting to stay and be with them. That is just a theory and is probably completely wrong!!
“shut the f**k up she said, I’m going f*****g deaf, your always to loud, everythings to loud”

Please take me home – This is about being with someone and liking them, but then something going wrong and you not wanting to be near that person any more….probably because the relationship is going wrong.
“oh no it happened again, she’s cool she’s hot she’s my friend”

What went Wrong – This is sort of an acoustic. This is about……………….well I don’t know exactly what this is about, but I like it a LOT. It is my second fave songon the album.
“I hate, a favourite movie, a favourite restaurant, a favourite show”

Time To Break Up – This is a bit of a fast song, and I like it quite a bit. It Its is about, well breaking up….that’s what the whole gist of it is!
“time to wake up, where’s your daughter , time to break up she was stronger”

Fuck A Dog – this is another comedy track and is the funniest on the whole album (apart from ‘Grandpa is an Asshole’).The title of the song is basically what it’s all about. There is nothing else to it.
“ I wanna f**k a dog in the ass, he wants to f**k a dog in the ass”

Grandpa is an Asshole – This isn’t on the version with the three bonus tracks and video on it. It is about when you were with your grandpa, and you f****d him in the asshole.
“when you fucked Grandpa did he tell you that he loved you, did he hold you till the sun did rise, and did he look into your eyes, and ask him to felate you”

I don’t think this is the best Blink 182 album yet. That was ‘Dude Ranch’, but it is really good. All I have to say is, if you are easily offended then you had better watch out!!!!
