Advantages: Hard, Loud, Musically Exceptional Disadvantages: Very few if any
...Rust in Peace i, first and foremost, one of the few definitive and essential items in the Heavy Metal genre. It screams against the evils of society in the menacing lyrics of Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, and the title track - Rust In Peace. In other places it offers a bleak warning - the sombre-toned Dawn Patrol being heavily underated as part of the narrative of the album. But this analysis is too deep. For megadeth are far more than song-writers. Led by the snarling anarchaic vocals and solid rhythm of the genre's most talented front-man (Dave Mustaine) the album is speed/thrash metal's finest hour. Let it not be forgotten that Mustaine was actually lead guitarist in Metallica, and on leaving moved to the vocals - leaving the stage open for what has been a chain of exceptional players. This is the first album with the legendary Marty...

Advantages: Some of the best early Floyd Disadvantages: Tracks taken from progressive albums so they lose something
...I've always loved this album and it's original cover not pictured here,it's some of the earliest progressive rock ever with, such brilliant Syd Barret Tracks as "See Emily Play" a wistful song presumably about a woman and "Bike" a pschadelic song about Syd's posessions. Pink floyds sound changed quite a bit when Syd had a breakdown and left and was replaced by Dave Gilmour, so this is an important album in my mind, keeping Syds music alive. (though as someone rightly commented Dave Gilmour does play on some of the tracks)
I also love "Arnold Lane" a strange song about a transvestite who steals womens clothes by night and ends up in prison. It has a very strange black and white video as well if you can find it. There are also many instrumental songs like "Interstellar Overdrive and "careful with that Axe Eugene".
This is a great album...

Advantages: Well written Disadvantages: self indulgent
...The Final Cut is not the best introduction to Pink Floyd as it is essentially a Roger Waters solo album.
Having parted company with Nick Mason and Richard Wright after the Wall album and tour, there was only David Gilmour left to stop the total control of Pink Floyd was complete. However it backfired sensationally as the future would attest.
The songs on this album are very dark and introspective. A topic ranging from what happens to our war heroes (The Fletcher Memorial Home) nuclear holocaust (Two Suns in The Sunset) and personal neurosis (The Final Cut) not exactly a laugh a minute.
David Gilmour’s contributions are very slight apart from the rocky Not Now John (British workers apathy), which is so at odds with the rest of the album apart from the lyrics, it has Gilmours stamp of class throughout. Elsewhere he only has a few...
