Technology Won't Save Us [Digipak] - Sophia

Advantages: Contains the group's finest material
Disadvantages: buried amongst a load of filler and some of it's worst

...-teen fascination with rubbish neo-punk music, I could never truly get into it. I wouldn't have said I disliked the record, but I certainly couldn't listen to it from start to finish, and it was probably the least played of all my Rancid records. Odd then, that now, the 20 year old me finds it probably Rancid's most palletable record I've heard(I don't, and probably won't ever own the group's debut or Indestructable), granted that doesn't say all that much. So, the group's fourth LP, Life Won't Wait hit the shelves in 1998, and while it probably did very well in terms of initial sales, it did suffer a bit of a backlash from bitter fans who didn't hear those three chords played over and over enough times. Nowadays it's the record anyone rarely talks about, with it's follow up, Rancid (2000) basically taking all the heat off of it by dividing the fans... Read review

...This is a fantastic follow up to Songs about Jane. The album consists of 12 tracks or 14 if you have the special edition. There is a great collection of catchy rocky tracks that you can't get out of your head to slower ballad style tracks. Advantages: Much more danceable than thier last album
Disadvantages: The slower songs may let the other songs down

...Everytime a band releases their second album, there is always that worry, 'will it be as good as thier first?' Such bands such as The Darkness have released a fantastic first album, but you cant help wonder where they are now since they released thier second. They deffinately didn't get 'Permission to land' with thier second album. Excuse the pun there, but it couldnt be helped. Unlike many bands Maroon 5 have not fallen on thier knees with the release of thier second album. Its called 'It Won't be soon before long.' On listening to the very first track, it is clear to hear a slight difference in sound to their first album. It is a lot more up beat, you could even say 'funky'. It seems that they have had alot of influence from artists such as Prince, Michael Jackson and Talking Heads, with thier funky guitar rhythms and synthesised... Read review
