These are particularly fun to play pieces and fantastic to listen to, especially for the intermediate and advanced grades. In my opinion they really show off your skills as a solo violinist as well as, well for me, definitely was one of the pieces which improved my tonal quality and control much more easily than ever before whilst playing them. Listening to the solo pieces is quite astounding and pleasent album to listen to
One of my favourite pieces is the vivace movement form Fantasia no. 9 in Bminor. It was my grade 7 exam piece and really fascinating to play, especially with the fast semiquaver passages, followed with the big octave leaps in the music where full ocntrol is vital for this piece. There are occasional double and triple stops which provide great finishes for the piece and split it into clear sections. When listening to these pieces, just imagine yourself playing them, its so amazing.
You really need to try these pieces, whether that is listening to them or simply playing them. Some slow and elegant and others, fast and lively. They are a really amazing set of pieces which will astonish you like they did me and Telemann is now one of my favourite composers especailly of the baroque period- such as unique style and for SOLO violin. Absolutely Amazing!
