Advantages: Compelling story Disadvantages: Needs a good editing, some flaws in the story
Introduction
In a never-ending desire to find decent new authors of crime fiction, I chanced across Stephen Booth's work in my local library, and was impressed by the acclaim that authors such as Reginald Hill and Val McDermid had for the book, so borrowed it. I liked the fact that it was a good, thick book too, ideal for taking on holiday. I have to admit that it was a compelling story - I read it in a couple of days because I was anxious to find out what happened - unfortunately, it was marred by weak writing skills, which made parts of the book flow quite badly.
The author
Stephen Booth was born in Burnley, Lancashire and has stayed in the area since. He was a journalist for a local newspaper before he decided to turn his hand to writing novels, all of which are based in the Peak District. BlackDog is his first novel ...
Advantages: throws the ball further, you dont have to touch the ball Disadvantages: you have to carry it around with you
chase it". This all seems great and many dogs enjoy chasing a tennis ball, however there is a fundamental problem.
The Problem
Bonnie is a dirty disgusting hound. She adores mud and anything that smells or looks unbelievably vile. She also loves water and swimming in nasty swamps and ponds with thick brown water. When Bonnie comes across one of these things her urgency to get filthy means that where ever Bonnie goes, the ball goes. Resulting in her returning with something brown, wet and round that vaguely resembles a tennis ball. This is not something you want to be picking up with your hand in order to throw again. Bonnie isn't happy until the ball is thrown again so you end up with mud, fox poo, pond water and general yuckyness all over your hand and as soon as its wiped off she is back with the ball again!!!

Advantages: efective little cleaner Disadvantages: Noisy
I have a small home so when I needed a new vacuum cleaner I chose the Dyson DC24 which is a smaller version of the standard model. It cost £189.99. I was expecting almost a child sized vacuum cleaner but there is not really much difference at all.
It was so simple to put together, there are peel off stickers on the unit to explain things as you go. It only took me 5 minutes to have it assembled. The ball makes vacuuming effortless, and the head of the vacuum is narrow so its easy to get under the sofa, low tables, etc.
It has strong suction as you would expect from a Dyson but it is surprising how full the cylinder is when you have finished. It really gets everything up. This does mean however that you need to empty the dust cylinder quite frequently.
The power cable is short and not retractable which can look a bit untidy if it is ...
