Ok so as some of you who have read my previous reviews are probably aware that I have an obsession with a band called "Deathstars". In MY own opinion they are the best band in the world, with their industrial sound, their gothic look and their outrages attitudes I mean come on every girl likes a bad boy! So anyway I was in the Metro Centre the other day with my mum and we had a look in HMV and there I saw it; "Termination bliss Extended" the cover being the 5 members of the band. Whiplasher Bernadette reaching out his hand as if he was about to take of you, next Bone W Machine just tilting his head with a certain look on his face, after, in the middle their was Nightmare Industries just staring right into the camera with confidence as the picture was being taken, second from last on the cover was the mad and outrages Cat Casino (who considers him self to be the Kate Moss of Death glam lol) with a pout and striking a pose and last behind Cat Casino was the wonderful dreadlocked Skinny Disco with his hand on top of his head. The last three wearing green, Bone W machine wearing a black t-shirt and what looks like to be a pentagram and Whiplasher in a bizarre jacket that somewhat looks like what sailors may wear. And of course the official Deathstars logo. As I looked up at the top of the album, I saw the price £17 very pricy especially for me who hasn't got a job and still in education. But then I looked on the back to see what extra there was and from that point I knew I had to have it. However luckily for me my wonderful mother said she would get it for me for helping her out with all the baby sitting I've done for my little sisters. So I went and purchased it and then I was desperate just to get home.
AT HOME ON MY LAPTOP: So when I got home I took the see through plastic bit off and there it was it was like heaven in my hands. On the Back of the cover it
had everything that was on the CD and also some bizarre text in some foreign language which I think could be Swedish and on it the text says something about not suitable for those under 16, which is ok for me seen as though I'm 17, not that it would have made a difference :D. When I removed the cover it had the CD case. The design was a white background with a women sitting on the floor looking terrified and screaming. She has no clothes on but you are unable to see any of private parts as her legs are crossed and her arms cover her breasts because she has her hands on her face. There is also blood splattered across the side of the album. On the bottom it simply says: Termination bliss, on the left hand side it has: Termination Bliss Extended and on the top it once again has the official Deathstars Logo. On the back it has the list of songs for the album. The album has 2 CD's one of them is the original Termination Bliss Album which I have already reviewed but Ill put some in this review too and on the other CD is actually a DVD.
TERMINATION BLISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS: Ok so first Ill review the album its self I won't put too much as I have already reviews the album once before:
Termination bliss was released in 2006, the band have made videos for 3 of the songs being; Cyanide (which my little 5 year old sister loves to sing) Blitzkrieg and Vice to virtue. The album has Uber-gothic vocals and atmospherics collide spectacularly with dark, deep vocals and synths . Its cold, It's cruel It's wicked yet full of energy and fire. It is also a very unique album.
The songs from the album: Tongues: Starting of with a synthesiser and then after a few seconds hearing the crash of the drums by Bone w machine just pounds through out your body whist feeling incredible with the synthesizer still going leading straight to Whiplasher deep husky voice.
Blitzkrieg: It's slow, soft and relaxing…well for a few seconds at the beginning with violins and then once again Bone w machine slams down on his drums realising an unfriendly yet addicting feeling. Blitzkrieg was also brought out as one of their singles and the video to it is amazing. There are planes dropping bombs there are flashes of lighting the guitar and base playing is great. This is also great to play on the guitar.
Mother zone Synthesizers are starting, calm and slow then out comes the of drums and guitar streaming through when whiplashes starts to sing your blood runs cold ,your left feeling helpless and in total darkness, his voice is cruel and heart wrenching the beat is on going from the drums.
Cyanide Be prepared be careful and don't let young kids watch the video for cyanide it's all about death and fear the beat the bad the guitar all going at once its catchy but dreadfully depressive with quotes like "This is the blade that will visit your flesh and realise the wine" or "now drink the cyanide " explains it all. The song is pure filth with sexiness.
Greatest Fight On The Earth The beginning of this song is beautiful the music on the synthesizer is outstanding then Whiplashes starts signing with just the synthesizer and its very creepy until the bass, the guitar and drums start then you know what your in for. Endless disaster. This could possibly one of my most favourite songs by them the lyrics are so unbelievably twisted, cruel yet very clever. Play God The beginning starts lovely lifting right into Whiplasher whispering "I wanna play god with you I wanna rule it all " then the drums crash going straight into the song and it's about ruling over everything. It's a song of disperse how they will rule you and do what they want to you. Trinity Fields This song is probably one of my favourites starts of a song the beginning is so intense powerful it has so many mixed emotions the music runs straight through your blood you almost so you feel tears appearing for no reason its like there is no hope everything is gone and all this just from the music of curse once whiplashes starts singing and you know there is no hope and everything is gone. The Last Ammunition Awesome lyrics the beat runs through. Whiplashers voice beams and although nothing is happing to you really feel like he is talking to you very depressive but a great song Vice to virtue The song has a certain presence which gives you an eerie feeling, this is one of the songs were I feel Whiplasher really shows off his vocals. The video is very good as well, evil, evil Bone W Machine. If you watch the video you understand what I mean.
Termination Bliss Depending on what version you listening the song various there is the original which is like any other normal Death stars song but there is the piano version which is truly a great song there is violins and the piano playing in it and its almost as if this song would be played at a funeral it's so sad and emotional truly great though with lyrics like "She wears her crown On a head that's bowed deep down A dying picture of lies A tortured saint fed to the flies" it takes a true genies to write such great lyrics
THE DVD: This includes: Vice to virtue: the video. Blitzkrieg: the video Cyanide: the video Synthetic generation(from their first album): the video Syndrome (also from their first album: the video Bonus material: The Making of Vice to virtue The making of Blitzkrieg The making of Cyanide And a few interviews The DVD also includes Deathstars media player.
MY CONCLUTION: It's bloody amazing the only thing I was disappointed in was the Making of the 3 videos it didn't actually give you an in-depth look it showed you little bits here and there. But that's the only flaw with the album. I bought the album for £17 but you can get it cheaper on eBay. If you do decide to by it from a shop you should be able to get it in most music stores if you do like gothic/Industrial music then this is a must. If you listening to such bands like: Rammstein, Suicide commando, and Skinny Puppy then I'm sure you will like this.
