Snoop Dogg, previously known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, is back with his last effort under the No Limit label. With his contract almost up you'd think he would just roll out an average album. Well you'd be wrong! Snoop has still got his tight laid-back flow that rocketed him to the top of the charts with Doggystyle and the production is still as good as ever.
The Intro starts off the album in a classic Snoop Dogg Style as seen in his Doggystyle album.
The first track is "Hennesey N Buddah" referring to Snoop's two favourite things, expensive brandy and marajuana. Featuring Kokane, this song will have everyone up dancing. Snoop produces some great lyrics over a cool tune. 9/10
Second up is Snoop's first release from the album, the self-titled "Snoop Dogg (What's My Name Pt 2)". Whats my name was a classic track from his first album "Doggystyle" (check out my Doggystyle op) and this is its follow up. They aren't very similar but this is still a good track. Very catchy hook with a very laid back rhyme from Snoop. 9/10
The next track starts of with Snoop asking Bill Clinton a question, "Did you f*** that b**** or what?" and B.C replying with his famous quote " i had inappropriate contact.....etc". Very funny but the song "True Lies" lacks something. A laid-back chillout track asking "Whats the use of the truth if you can't tell a lie somtimes?", ok, brilliant song! 6/10
The next track is "Wrong Idea". Snoop produces another great track helped by a few guests. Good beat and a catchy hook sung by Kokane. 8/10
Kokane appears again in "Go Away", another good track. The stomping beat will have your head nodding as Snoop pulls off a great track. 9/10
MC Ren, The Lady of Rage, Nate Dogg and Ice Cube all appear alongside Snoop in "Set It Off". Timbalands production could have made most of the oppurtunity to make a classic track from this reunion. It can't be bad with all these stars and Nate Dogg forces you to sing along. Not a classic but still good. 9/10
Kokane back, again, for "Stacey Adams". A very laid back track with an unusual hook. Snoop doesn't falter as usual, but a bit too laid back. 6/10
The next single off the album is "Lay Low". Like "Next Episode" its a short classic, just reaching 3 minutes. Thumping beat (produced by Dre), appearances from Tha Eastsidaz and a great hook sung by none other than Nate Dogg. 10/10
The next track is "Bring It On". Kokane appears with his unusual style of singing as Snoop warns no-one to interfere in his business. Catchy track. 9/10
A skit called "Game Court" is next featuring only Mac Minista (who?). A 70's beat in the back ground (I think) as heard on the playstation game Driver. Someone takes Snoop to court for being a rich pimp etc. Use the fast forward button.
Snoop returns with a great track "Issues". Over a cool beat, Snoop lets some steam off his chest, dissing all the playa-haters and hangers-on in his life. 9/10
"Brake Fluid (B**** pump yo brakes)" is a stomping track with a thumping beat and cool hook. Kokane appears again. 9/10
"Ready To Ryde" features Eve of Ruff Ryders fame. Fast beat and some good rhyming. Snoop can't sing though. 8/10
"Losin' Control" is apparently a bonus track even though its in the middle of the album. The inlay also says, i quote, "contains an interpolation of a Kid N Play song?". Anyway its a great track. Amazing hook and funky tune will make you put this track on repeat. 10/10
Next is a track called "I Can't Swim". Freaky beat and freakier voice which I can't really explain, i guess you'll have to listen yourself. 7/10
"Leave Me Alone" is a classic laid back Snoop track. G-Funk beats and a cool Snoop rap on a catchy hook. 9/10
"Back Off Me" has a classic No Limit beat designed for the club. Featuring Master P and Mr Magic, you'll be singing along to the hook in the club ( if you happen to be in a club....which plays hiphop..... and you know the words). 9/10
Snoop ends the album with "Y'all Gone Miss Me". As he says goodbye to No Limit Records over some pure G-Funk you cant help but feel sad. Or not as the case may be. 9/10
"The Last Meal" refers to the last time someone "eats from Snoops plate", ie he's now starting his own record company so he'll get all the money after being ripped off before. This is his last album on the No Limit label but i'm sure you'll hear from Snoop again. In the meantime, pick up this album. Not a classic like Doggystyle but definitely a worthy album in any hiphop fans cd collection.

Advantages: Some Cracking Songs Disadvantages: Not his best album
i am an avid rap fan and i like most rap artists but this has to be one of the best albums snoop has brought out or one of the best albums ever. It has a great array of songs with my favorite being the self titled Snoop Dogg. This is a grest follow up to top dogg which has not been the best of his albums. This album has surpassed the greatness of the Doggfather which is also an exceptional album. If you are a fan of rap or not you have got to purchase ... ...album because it does have some stuff in it that will make you dance but it also has some stuff in where you can sit back and just chill to.Worth buying if you have some chill time on your hands.Compared to his other albums this is by far the best because this is what proper rapping is.The Snoop Dogg single is proberly the most up beat song on the album.Other than this all the other songs are a lot slower with the lyrics being a lot heavier.I like ...

SnoopDogg-The last Meal. You cant keep a good dogg down! This is one mellow album. Definite reggae overtones in places and a laid back rap style that the dogg has made his own. The album kicks off with a short track "intro". Nice enough way to get started. Straight into track 2 "hennesy n buddah" A great tune. sets the tone for the rest of the album. Track 3 "snoop dogg" is a cracker. Some cool lyrics in this one. Smoke till your eyes get cataracts!! ... ...clinton and the monica wotsit affair. Track 5 Wrong idea. A cool gangsta tune. Laid back to say the least. Track 6 Go Away. Another of my favourites. Picks the rhythm up a bit. Funkier you could say. Track 7 One of the few weak links on this album but makes up for it when track 8 kicks in. Its hard to get across in words just how mellow the dogg is. The album continues in this vain until the end. There are very few weak tracks which on an album consisting ...

Advantages: Inlcudes smash hit "Snoop Dogg" Disadvantages: Could improve some songs
Tha Last Meal is another smashing album from the best Gangsta rapper of the US: Snoop Dogg.
In august I got hand of a version of Tha Last Meal with other songs. This Final version is an album with 19 gangsta rap songs. Snoop Dogg asked all his friends, Mc Ren, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, Lady of Rage, Master P and Tha Eastsidas to join him on the album.
The first time I listened to the album I just wouldn't like it. But after three times, when you recognize ... ...StikkyIkkyWikkies! Funny Sounds, nice Beats and his Voice makes this a welcome album.
The album includes the smash hit single Snoop Dogg on it and my favourite songs are, "Snoop Dogg", "Go Away", "Back Up off Me" and "Y'all Gone Miss Me".
Just try this album and you'll love it after a while!
I would say this gets rating of 7/10. Its good but not as good as some of his pervious albums. ...

Advantages: fun and bouncy Disadvantages: one or two weak tracks
Snoops Priority Records farewell album. Now departed from Master P and his fam, Snoop has ended the relationship with an almighty effort.
Before I get started theres one thing that i can't get my head around, how in the hell did I can't Swim make the album! Its the worst track i've heard in my life. Listen and you'll understand, now with that out the way let the op commence. Standout tracks on the album are:
Lay Low - a catchy track with an awesome ... ...Doggs bellowing voice.
Set it off - a pretty obsure beat doesn't hurt this track as it continues to show off Snoops desire to not lay down and out in the rap game.
The rest of the tracks are bouncy with the exception of a few, Master P even makes a heartfelt thank you to Snoops services. Some tracks feature a artist called Kokane, here Snoop has found the perfect emcee to compliment his own voice.
Apart form the dreadful 'I Can't Swim' very good ...

Advantages: Consistent Disadvantages: None of the tracks stand out
?ThaLastMeal? came out in 2000, and was SnoopDogg?s fifth album, and in light of what had happened between his own albums, this one had him back with production from Dr. Dre, amongst other big names such as Timbaland, Scott Storch and Soopafly. It was the final album with him on Maser P?s No Limit Records, and following this, you can sense freedom from a tight production budget and a lack of promotion lasting until he moved on with his next release.

2. ?Hennessey N Buddah?
Getting the album off to a strong start you find Snoop on some nice beats from Dr. Dre which has him grooving in the ways which we heard in the earlier collaborations from them. It is a good way to start it off as he begins it with an introduction about the people who he associates with before it is all broken down to get him to rap about how he is ...
Advantages: His best album, all the songs are great Disadvantages: None
I have been a rap fan for quite a while now and SnoopDogg has become my favorite rap artist. I only have 3 of his albums(Doggy Style, ThaLastMeal and Dead Man Walkin)out of the 6 that he has made(the other 3 are Top Dogg, Dogg Father and Tha game is to be sold and not to be told) This was on of the albums he fisrt brought out and he brought this out in 1993 ans was released bt death row rcords(who he has now left). Snoop before this was hardly well known and was heard when he featured on Dre's hit Nothin but a "G" Thang. Dre also produced this album and the exucutive producer was Suge Knight. With Dre producing this album it instantly got wanted publicty to all fans who loved gangsta rap. The content on this album largely comes down to his life as a kid and what he saw because this is what most rappers do. At the time this album was ...

Personnel includes: Snoop Dogg, Bad Azz, Kokane, Eve, Lil HD, Tha Eastsidaz, Suga Free, Butch Cassidy, Master P, Mr. Magic, Mac Minista, Nate Dogg, MC Ren, The Lady Of Rage, Ice Cube (vocals); Clarence Jimmy Roach (guitar, bass); La Tonya Holmes, Mica Fisher, Traci Nelson (background vocals). Producers include: Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Battlecat, Meech Wells, Timbaland. Though Ice-T is credited with creating gangsta rap, and the original N.W.A. brought it to the forefront of the pop culture, it was Snoop Dogg that took the genre to the next level with his debut album DOGGYSTYLE. Snoop's decision to transfer from the Suge Knight-owned Death Row Records to the Master P-owned No Limit had a significant effect on the sound of his music. However, his fifth album, THA LAST MEAL, returns Snoop to the funk-inspired sound that made his debut a classic. "Snoop Dogg (What's My Name Part. 2)," with its Timbaland-produced background, re-establishes Snoop as the G-funk king. The posse cut "Set it Off," which features Ice Cube, MC Ren, Nate Dogg, and the Lady of Rage, highlights Snoop's laid-back flow and skilled lyrical style. Check out "True Lies" for that bouncy old Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre feel.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (1/18/01, p.56) - 3.5 stars out of 5 - "...[His] strongest album since DOGGYSTYLE....Snoop's chronic-marinated flow, all menthol-cool and deadpan droop, sounds as smooth as ever..." Spin (3/01, p.145) - 6 out of 10 - "...This MEAL finds him riding the Dre cache, trying to convince us he's still 'G'ed-up from the feet up'....Timbaland stuttering out the obvious singles...but Dre's laconic thumps-by-the-pound anchor most of the album..." Vibe (2/01, pp.133-4) - 3.5 discs out of 5 - "...Deeply steeped in P-funkology....these days, Snoop's songs are simply fun to listen to....nothing groundbreaking, just good solid Snoop-rap..."
