Thank You - Jamelia

star--has a lot of catching up to do. Thankfully, Thank You extends way beyond where her self assured debut, Drama, left off. If anything, watching from the sidelines as R&B's taken over pop culture seems to have galvanised her. This is more rebirth than comeback--her determination to make up lost ground has her upping both hers and R&B's game, rolling out staggeringly strident and imaginative backing tracks of pneumatic beats and sci-fi cool for every song, not just the singles. Crucially though, her second album isn't just a flexing of production muscle. The slick bounce of "Club Hoppin'", "Off Da Endz"'s mystical shimmy and the predatory "Taxi" all come with hypnotic choruses that are hard to shift. Elsewhere, "Dirty Dirty" pitches her still-sweet vocals against a new-found gift for hard-bitten rap, while the title track showcases remarkable songwriting maturity, pairing a tale of domestic violence with beautifully hopeful pop, without resorting to overwrought slush. Such is the strength of the new Jamelia's character that even when obligatory big-name US guest stars Rah Digga and Bubba Sparxxx roll up, she's still the main attraction. More than anyone could have expected or hoped for, without question, Thank You returns Jamelia to her rightful place as UK R&B's most likely star. --Dan Gennoe

This was her first single, in her new re-invention. It is supremely catchy and has a fantastic beat. It is more poppy than her usual stuff, but even in this there is a distinct ... ...rock pretty hard.
-------------- Thank You! --------------
This is the second single, which Jamelia released. It originally entered the charts in 22nd of February. It is a slow ballad, with Jamelia sweetly singing, ‘For every last bruise you gave me, for every night I sat in tears’ one can only imagine that this song is about her experience with domestic violence. It is a really great pop song. Jamelia sings with heart and soul. The backing music ...

Advantages: Released singles are good Disadvantages: The rest of it isn't
...(almost) final track B.I.T.C.H. Thank god it’s nearly the end. The track begins with ‘I’ll be that BITCH tonight and explore you right’ or something like that. It’s just the same old thing yet again, and even I’m getting bored of typing that in. Strong beats, jittering melody - it’s a little bit like that song from ‘Save the Last Dance’ that goes ‘You can do it, put your back into it’ (any ideas what that’s called, tell me and I’ll put it in) as ... ...nowhere near as catchy. It gets better slightly towards the end with another fast rapper from the female non-entity but nothing can save it. 4/10
Now I’m onto the bonus tracks. The thing I don’t understand about bonus tracks these days is that albums happily announce them. Isn’t the point supposed to be that they’re a surprise at the end for you? Anyway…
The first bonus track ‘Life’ isn’t actually that bad. It has some orchestral sounding synths ...

THANK YOU
Title track and another smash hit for Jamelia. If you don’t know this (where have you been lol) this is a synth ridden ballad. It tells of Jamelia’s true life story of domestic violence “you spit, you hit”. It’s a bittersweet affair as its sad but empowering thanking the person who did this and making her who she is now. I suppose the fact that shes where she is and he is where he is, is a good feeling for her, and ... ...Antidote), but with the revamped Thank You, it got put as a bonus which doesn’t do this justice. “I’m a bout to do life for you” this was inspired by Chicago and woman dark sides. Shes not doing life for being with him… lets say that. This is a really really good song. Its catchy quite dark in sound and style but its got hit written all over it. I love her vocals too… another autobiographical piece Jamelia? 6/5

BOUT: I believe this came out as a single before Superstar but I have no idea where it got to in the chart. Shame though, cos it's actually a fantastic tune. This starts off like it's a fanfare at the circus or in a carnival and has an ... ...didnt try myself, HONEST!!!)
THANK YOU: Most people know this song I think. A powerful, fairly uptempo ballad (if that's possible!) about being hurt and coming out stronger from it. Despite the contrast between the title of the song and the content, this is not a bitter or sarcastic song, which is how it could be interpreted. It's more of a "I've moved on, look at me now" song than anything else.

...off this album including Superstar, Thank You and See It In A Boys Eyes, the wonderful music child of Coldplays Chris Martin when he joined forces with Jamelia.
Now i will take you through the tracks and give you a bit of detail on each of them:
Superstar-This song is very catchy and very original, it has a catchy melody and great lyrics and was one of the biggest hits of last year. I think that this is one of the best songs on the album.
Thank ... ...and its hard to disagree, it is so brilliant with its emotional content and catchy melodic content, she has outdone herself.
DJ- A great tune for dancing too, it fits well with the rest of the album and is a very good r'n'b track.
See It On A Boys Eyes-This track is my favourite, it has no flaws. It is the collaboration of Chris Martin and Jamelia and is wonderful and different. It has Chris's Folk infulences and Jamelias r'n'b to make it truly ...
