...STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - THANK YOU -------------------------------- Greatest hits albums are usually a bit of an hit or miss affair, as you normally own most of the songs anyway and the tracklist is never your favourite set of songs. So I was obviously a bit worried when I realised one of my favourite bands was going to release one, that was until they announced that it would also include a dvd video with 3 hours of music videos and live performances. Stone Temple Pilots have been around since the early 90's, and were unfairly called grunge copycats, which caused quite a few people to miss out on what was a great band. With lead singer Scott Weiland they had a man that could actually sing as well as scream and shout, Scott has also been a vocal coach for many of todays acts. Advantages: excellent value and good intro to band
Disadvantages: some of their best tracks are missing

...Although I have all of their albums this is the one I had been waiting for as it had all of the best tunes in one place. Also the DVD included isn't the usual thrown together compilation - it includes a gallery, all of the videos including Sour Girl starring Buffy and concert footage so alot of thought has been put into this collection. The sad thing about this collection is that it is a thank you and goodbye from one of the most underrated bands of the last 10 years who got better with each album. Anyone buying this expecting Velvet Revolver style songs will be dissappointed as Weilands writing with STP avoids the rock cliches that bog down his new band. As the songs on this album cover all of their albums it doesnt take long to appreciate how brilliant Weiland is as a singer no matter what he is singing.... Read review

Advantages: Good quality metal as it should be.
Disadvantages: I can't think of any

.... Lots of toms being played. There is not a lot of guitar in this song, but the bass is noticeable. In the verses it is almost shouting, which is as near to this nasty nu-metal as it gets. In the chorus, the whole sound gets bigger, with more drums and guitar, also the singer changes his tone of voice, and has some backing vocals done by the other members of the band, giving a contrast between the chorus and the verse. Interstate Love Song starts with almost twangy guitar sound, then the drums kick in, and the guitar gets heavier. It is about long distance relationships, and lies. Although I have highlited 3 tracks as the best, all of the tracks are equally as good, all have the distinctive sound of Stone Temple Pilots.
