...What can I say about Bob Marley that has not already been said, so I'd thought I'd say what I wanted too in the form of a poem, it is my own work and hope you like it, here it goes:,
Bob Marley sang many songs of the Black struggle for freedom,
He repeated the Rasta generation whose leaders were but lost,
His people held at ransom their cries and protest at a cost,
But many years after his death his dreams lived on,
His music louder in voice and song.
He uplifted broken spirits,
With the wisdom of his lyrics,
With his chants of 'get up and stand up',
His motives were nothing but pure,
But he was still ridiculed by those who were not sure,
For they felt intimidated by the tone of his skin.
There were times when he could have given up and screamed,
When armies of whites crushed the mirrors of his...

...Bob Dylan celebrates his 60th birthday this month, it is he I have to thank for my name, and I was weaned on Bob Dylan. My father was and still is a huge fan! For as long as I can remember as soon as he's had a drink, he'll look at me and grin I know what’s coming next, "Corrina Corrina hey girl your on my mind. I've got a bird that whistles, I've got a bird that sings, but if I ain’t got Corrina I ain’t got a thing". Bob Dylan was to him and I grew up to believe the greatest songwriter in the land. He would tell his songs as a story in a way that he hoped I would understand. Translated and explained with passion and obvious admiration. Was there any wonder I grew up intrigued by this man? One of my favourite albums is Biograph on it are tracks that in one way or another represent sometime in his life.

Advantages: A superb opportunity for some nostalgic moments and some genuinely good tunes Disadvantages: Some clear faves of the true fans are missing
...and song writing, mainly due to her changing her co-writer to the talented Patrick Leonard. Madonna has never been known for her ground shattering lyrics, but I reckon that this is probably the most thought provoking song she has ever produced. It's slow and deliberate yet with a dreamy and distant overtone - the meaning of the song itself I am still trying to work out; its obviously about secrets, lies and life, "Hope I live to tell the secret I have learnt, till then, it will burn inside of me", but it is one of those songs where you know there's obviously much more to it than that. It's an understated track in a way and not one that tends to get mentioned much but is a fantastic sample of my favourite 80s album of Madonna's (and arguably her best anyway), True Blue. The eerie breakdown in the middle only further goes to enhance the presence...
