Review of (The) Best Classical Album of the Millenium ... Ever! by babz1975

Advantages: Everything you could ever want from a classical CD
Disadvantages: none

...I have purchased and listened to many types of music and as a classical pianist always like to explore new CD's. This album has so many classics on it and is delightful to listen to. Did you know that opening music in 2001 - A Space Odyssey was from Also Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss or that the background music in the British Airways TV commercial was the Flower Duet from the opera Lakme? This compilation album is perfect whether you are a lover of classical music or just interested to find out what it is all about. The track listing shows what can be expected on this wonderful CD. 1. Canon and Gigue in D Composed by Johann Pachelbel 2. 12 Concertos for Violin and Strings Composed by Antonio Vivaldi 3. Adagio in G minor Composed by Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni 4. Symphony No. 6, 'Pastoral' in F Composed by Ludwig van... Read review

First step into Beatlemania
Review of Hard Day's Night, A - Beatles (The) by BLUESY

Advantages: The Beatles
Disadvantages: none

...Hi: "A hard day's night" was the third album the beatles would released, on july 1964. With this album, the beatles would open the United States doors to their music. In fact, the single from this album would reach the number one at the States charts (of course, same as in England). The album would sell more than a million and a half copies in just two weeks in the UK, the fastest selling album in the British history. For the first time for the beatles, this would be a stereo album (it wasn't very comon stereo albums by that time, 40 years ago). One of the amizing things is that every song in the whole album was a Lennon-McCartney song .Of course, as always, it usually was lennon's OR McCartney's, but the thing is that there were not any song composed by someone who wasn't a beatle. The first album like this for them, and also... Read review

The Music of Eric Coates
Review of The Music of Eric Coates by Martinscholes

Advantages: Very good music
Disadvantages: None

...Mention Eric Coates to most people these days and you might be met by a blank stare and the words: "Eric Coates?" No, sorry. I have never heard of him. Who did he play for? Yet at one time Eric Coates was seen as an up-and-coming modern British classical composer. Eric CoatesEric Coates 1886 was born in and lived until 1957. He was widely acknowledged as a fine composer of modern light classical music. The CD The Music of Eric Coates is expertly performed by the band of the Royal Yeomanry Band. And perhaps here it has to be said that the music of Eric Coates, when not being completely militaristic might best be described as quasi-militaristic. And that is not an insult or necessarily a bad thing. For one must recall that for men of Coates' generation, there lives had been formed in the terrible heat of the trenches of World War One...
