I have to admit that the first time I listened to this album I wasn't sure of it. There were the obvious songs that I had heard on the radio like Chelsea Dagger and Whistle for the Choir and I really liked those songs but I wasn't sure of the rest at first. The album does, however, like many others, grow on you.
It's a good album but I will be honest and say it isn't one that will take your breath away. Like their Scottish counterparts, The View, they are quite arrogant with their vocals and that isn't a bad thing. They seem to try different things with their voices throughout the album. It's a little hard to describe but it makes many of the songs quite different and I like the style.
The best picks are definitely Whistle for the Choir and Chelsea Dagger, the latter being a sumptuous offering that quite literally gets you flying off your seat to jump around! Other songs like Ole Black and Blue Eyes and Vince the Lovable Stoner catch the imagination. They are pop-like with their melodies but the band harness in enough rock to keep in with their style.
It's a good first album but I think this band is the type to develop as they get going. I will hedge my bets on their second album being an improvement on this but it is not a bad first attempt.

As I think I've said on your other music reviews you really need more detail and commentary on the individual tracks

I like this album, especially Chelsea Dagger and Whistle for the Choir. For higher ratings maybe put a full track list in the review, and say what you like and dislike about each song.
