To combat flag-waving traditional scoring for the military, he asked Carter Burwell to blend hisFargotragedy with his jazzyConspiracy Theory. Sure enough, that's what you get in the score parts of the album. As of "Exercise In Darkness" there's the maestro's melancholy giving the strings plenty to do; a little later he fulfils the other part of the deal with some funky action composites of orchestra and samples ("The Conspiracy" and "Kent's Story"). Then there's the deep South setting, which West couldn't bear to have portrayed by that sliding steel-guitar and washboard thang. He therefore got 1930s and 40s field-worker songs remixed with 90s beats. "She Began To Lie" is like a gospel Portishead rock. It's definitely a change for all concerned. --Paul Tonks

...memories of this movie and of the time it was released in the charts to me and I just love recalling it all. This track was released in 1985 and reached number 15 in the billboard charts. The music video to accompany this love song was taken from clips of the St Elmo's Fire movie also. This is an excellent track, that?s an all time favourite to me.

Well as you have probably gathered from reading this review, I really love this soundtrack a lot. I have had this original one for over twenty years. I first had it on cassette and then upgraded it to CD. It really looks a bit tatty on it, but that?s because it has been played a lot by me over the years, as I love it so much. Advantages: A superb script Disadvantages: Travolta is perhaps a little to larger than life
...This film has sadly been missed by many viewers. John Travolta and Madalaine Stow star. Despite his excess bulk, Travolta puts in a pretty good performance in what is a fine piece of script writing.
The story begins with the discovery of the generalsdaughter tied to stakes in the ground, naked, spread eagled and very dead. Despite the appearance, she has not been raped. Travolta is placed on the case, fighting his way through the male dominated, majorly corrupt, and seriously close-knit army ways to get to the truth.
This film is a strange combination of crime thriller,moving drama and verging on romantic piece. It works extremely well. The scripts is quite superb, and contins one of the best dialogue sequences for a many a blue moon. Travolta and Stow do their jobs adequately, and without too much hollywood overacting.

...WOW! I love the film, and this soundtrack is absolutely amazing as well. Throughout the soundtrack I just want to get up and dance - and sometimes I do... LOL.
It's the whole standing in front of a mirror with the hairbrush CD. If you're a big fan of the film like me, then this is the perfect CD as you know all of the words off by heart without even realising it!
Everyone loves Patrick Swayze, and he sings track 3 (She's Like The Wind). It gives me goosebumps every time!
What makes this soundtrack even better is the price. For less than a fiver there's all the fun of the film! It'll get you dancing before you know it! Although you'll wish you were dancing with Patrick rather than on your own. LOL....
