Advantages: sensual and feminine floral hart, good staying powder Disadvantages: aldehydes - not everyone is used to this smell; can be found old-fashioned
Chanel No. 5 will always remain a controversial perfume. Although used and praised for decades it's still a love or hate fragrance. I think it's because of aldehydes, the most important constituents of this fragrance. They possess a waxy, fatty smell that often makes think on washed and dried clothe. Aldehydes are found in nature (for example in a citrus peel), but never in amounts used in Chanel No. 5. That makes this smell a bit unnatural from one side, but it also gives an interesting exotic twist.
In my opinion EDP is much softer than EDT version - the aldehydes are less sharp and the floral bouquet is more prominent. On my skin it starts with a fresh citrus note that slightly fades into a floral hart of orange blossom, rose and jasmine. An ultimate feminine bouquet, but modernized with waxy sharpness of the aldehydes ...
Advantages: dynamic and gripping Disadvantages: none
Fantastic to have another additional collection of all five of Beethoven's piano concerti. Spanning his life we can really get to grips with his evolving use of the orchestra in these works. From the Third's action packed finale to the Fourth's beautiful expressions to the grandeur of the much loved Fifth.
The playing is precise, dramatic and full of energy; as indeed it should be.
Aimard's playing is always well crafted and beautifully shaped. This is an insightful disk and has taken the musicians an awful lot of hard work. A must-have for any lover of Beethoven's piano music. If you usually go for his chamber music or string quartets why not branch out and explore Aimard's wonderful take on these concerti? Well worth buying and indeed an inspiration for myself and other pianists alike. ...
Advantages: Price is rarely discounted Disadvantages: Price is rarely discounted
Chanel and food, it?s gonna be a tough one.
Chanel products are rarely found discounted. This means it keeps its integrity. What that means in plain English, is that it keeps it?s ?snob? value. It also means bargains are few and far between. And probably never to be found on markets etc. I was once bought a bottle of No5 by my ex mother-in-law (the venomous old bat. I should have smelt a rat from the start.). Inside a very convincing box was a sadly unconvincing bottle of perfume. It was a counterfeit. It may have convinced the uninitiated, but to experienced eyes (and nose. It really did smell like rat!), it hadn?t a hope. Being of a much shyer disposition in those days I said nothing, but I never forgot or forgave. Boots have been known to have the odd money off promotion and at least you can be sure it?s the real thing. So hooray ...
