...This is a great soundtrack, fully evoking the strength and grandeur of the film. The cd has some truly exhilarating moments and features some excellent playing, in particular the lyrical trumpet playing - as a brass student at the RCM I should know! Hans Zimmer constantly produces excellent scores, I was hooked from Backdraft (the best soundtrack ever) and even the Lion King was acceptable thanks to his evocative orchestral writing. The choice of wordless lyrics for the singer added to the ancient rome-evoking feel of the soundtrack and the fierce rhythms in the battle music were precisely correct.... Read review

...By far the best album from the Voodoo Glow Skulls is Firme. This album is also available entirely in Spanish, but I chose the English version. Voodoo Glow Skulls combine, punk and ska using trombones and trumpets and heavy guitars to the maximum. The lyrics are fast and the music has so much energy. Fat Randy, Charlie Brown, Shoot the Moon and El Coo Cooi have to be my favourite tracks on this album. A great album to get up and skank too. The Voodoo Glow Skulls are a great band and this their finest moment to date.... Read review

Top Gun anthem - Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens This is one of the best Anthems to a film ever written, this song is featured right at the begining of the movie when the aircrafts are being prepared for launch on the aircraft carrier, starts slowly and quietly and gradually gets louder, this truly is a great anthem with some amazing guitar tunes. 6. Hot summer nights - Miami Sound Machine A great upbeat feel good song. Designed for some great dancing, and lyrics that tell a great story, with more synthed sounds and again a good trumpet player. 7. Playing with the boys - Kenny Loggins Another fabulous song from Kenny Loggins, there is some great use of synthersisers, and some nice lyrics, and again, its good to dance too. 8.
