HISTORY OF TENORS ON ONE CD
Review of The Greatest Tenors of the 20th Century by
jameslucjan
Advantages: All the hero's in one
Disadvantages: Mixed sound recordings Sound louder and quieter in places
...by Fritz Wunderlich
Personally I don't think Stuart Burrows will ever be beaten with his rendition of this classic aria but Wunderlich would give him a run for his money. A great aria from the soon to be a big screen version of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte!
Track11: Cielo e mar! sung by Giuseppe di Stefano
This tenor was famous for his wild untamed singing that eventually cost him his voice. Still he sings this very well sounding very much like Pavarotti at times.
Track 12: Wenn der Freude Tränen fliessen performed by Staatskapelle Dresden Orchestra
Simply. ........ A magical Piece of Mozart
Track 13: Dalla sua pace sung by Ernst Haefliger
The Swiss tenor singing this famous aria form the famous Mozart opera Don Giovanni. (I Love it)
Track14: Ein Schwert verheiss mir der Vater Sung by Jon Vickers
Vickers' unique voice seems to deliver...

Review of Mozart: Cosi Fan Tutte by
Zoe_South
Advantages: One of the best Ferrando's on disc
Disadvantages: Overpriced
...of Lillian Watson.
Frank Lopardo is, for me, the star of the set. Sensitive, free, refined singing, sometimes surprisingly virile, and in terms of sheer vocal beauty, “Un aura amorosa” gets dangerously near the peerless Fritz Wunderlich, who died far too young. If you like your Mozart tenors big and butch, Frank will knock your socks off, but if you prefer Ian Bostridge in these roles, you’ll hate him. I was hoping Frank Loprado might change the face of Mozart singing, but it doesn’t seem to have happened (yet).
Olaf Bar’s Guglielmo is warm, bluff, and engaging. You like him a little more than the character deserves, but like von Otter, there’s something Italianate lacking.
Pertusi’s Don Alfonso is just too young sounding. I’ll say no more.
WOULD I BUY IT?
No. There are far better Cosi’s on the market. If you are looking for a library...

Magic Songs
Review of Kind Of Magic, A - Queen by
rocking
Advantages: Fantastic Album, Timeless
Disadvantages:
...This is a great album and the music from this album was commissioned for the film Highlander. The album features some great classic Queen tunes including the powerful One Vision, a great ballad It's A Kind Of Magic, a powerful opertaic ballad Who Wants To Live Forever and a great uplifting Queen standard Friends Will Be Friends. As usual the B-Sides are quality songs and not like the tracks thrown on for good measure many bands rely on in making up an album. This is one of queens best works and probably one of the most successful Movie/Music tie ins in history. These tracks are timeless....
