Review of Buleria - David Bisbal by Mokenju

Advantages: he was the only who made true his dream of become a great star outside Spain
Disadvantages: his music is... easy latin dancing music we´re waiting for an evolution in his career

...First of all, Bisbal does´nt sing jazz and blues hahah Nothing more different. He is a latin singer like Ricky Martin (when he dances with tropical and fast rithm) or like Luis Miguel ( when he sings slow balads). In fact I´m not a big fan of Bisbal and making a review of him is actually an excuse for talking about Operación Triunfo de music contest who made him a star and was a really fever for teenagers ( and not teenagers) of Spain. There was an instant in my country that everyone knows who were David Bisbal, David Bustamante, Gisela, Chenoa and most of all, Rosa (called Rosa de España :-O) and all the others contestants. They were in tv. They were in the radio. They were in the gums and in the moviles. They were everywhere. Operación Triunfo was created for the public channel to promote... Read review

Review of Seven More Minutes - Rentals (The) by barn22

Advantages: fantastic melodies and singalong choruses
Disadvantages: lyrics are a bit drab sometimes

...Pixieish guitars and weezeresque melodies make this, the rentals second album, a joy to behold the receptors of any human ears, and maybe animals' too. It is plainly obvious by the content of this album that Matt Sharp (the writer/producer) spent and loved a long hiatus in Spain or thereabouts. The songs, although not lyrically profound, refer to lazy days and hot nights in the sun drenched European country. "Barcelona" is a direct and honest love of a city that was seemingly partied dry by the band on their apparent nightly binges of jumping around and having a good time. Although the music is not exactly groundbreaking per se, the tunes sound refreshingly different and are tinged with singalong choruses ("Hello, hello") and luscious melodies ("My head is in the sun"). Plenty of guest appearances, most notably from Blur's Damon Albarn... Read review

sleazy landlord vs. scheming servants
Review of Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro by bubblegum_princess

Advantages: Great singing and lively performances
Disadvantages: Live recording noises! Quite expensive

...If anyone had told me 4 years ago that I would become a huge opera buff I probably would have laughed in their face! But here I am, spending my money on buying operatic recordings, going to see operas, and singing opera. If you’re looking for an introduction to the world of opera, you won’t find a more perfect introduction than Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro - filled with wonderfully drawn characters and ‘hummable’ Mozart melodies, this was the first opera that really caught my interest and is still my favourite. ---Synopsis--- The opera is set in Spain (but is sung in Italian!) and the action takes place over the course of one day - the wedding day of Figaro and Susanna, both servants to the Count and Countess Almaviva. Unfortunately for the couple, the Count fancies Susanna and, as well as stalling... Read review
