Advantages: Beautiful Lyrics, Beautiful Stories Disadvantages: Romantics and lovers of fantasy ONLY
...Both Kathryn Roberts and Kate Rusby are superb as far as musical talent go. Rusby's sweet nightingale like Irish lilt compliments perfectly Roberts' sultry deep and husky tones. But what I appreciate and adore most of all about their collaborations is this: When you listen to a song, it is not just a tune or a melody. The lyrics are almost always a story or tale in its entirety and serves to be a pleasurable experience but of the eyes and of the mind, with the images it conjours. The time zone ranges from Medieval to Renaissance to modern day... but all are captivating.
My personal Favourite Tracks are 'Recruited Collier' 'The Queen and the Soldier' 'Constant Lovers' and 'Plains of Waterloo'.
To truly appreciate the beauty of this CD you have to have an interest in ye olde celtic /englishe history, myth or legends. However, anyone...

Advantages: happy feel good music Disadvantages: weakest album by Elvenking
...Absolutely fantastic. This band play tracks that are very medieval but slightly souped up and given a modern feel. I love history and this album really fits the bill. If you have seen the film A Knights Tale, near the beginning they are singing Queens WE Will Rock You and it kinda works, well Elvenking are like that, their music fits with the medieval period as well as now.
Not to be considered Heavy Metal I still think this is a very apppealing band to ardent Metal fans, especially if you like Power Metal some of the more inrtense tracks have some real decent guitar solo's. Some of the tracks are very uptempo but they have a real good happy feeling to them. One or two of the tracks have snippets of growling like they have in Gothic Metal, but it actually fits and the tracks it is on, they are not inundated with it. Most...

Medieval Banquet Review ofMACHINA - The Machines Of God - Smashing Pumpkins (The)by
Eudora
Advantages: better than last album Disadvantages: still not as good as "Melan Collie"
...This is the fifth studio album to come from this group and it stays true to their tradition of combining loud, heavy tracks with more soothing, lighter, electronic melodies.
After Adore, their previous release, this does have a few outstanding tracks which will sound familiar to fans of their earlier material (notably the epic Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) such as "The Everlasting Gaze" and "Heavy Metal Machine".
The single "Stand Inside Your Love" sounds remarkably like "Tonight Tonight" and some might feel that this is far from original. Still, if nothing else, the art work is very interesting and has a very "medieval" feel to it....
