Evanescence a well know heavy metal'gothic' band (Although I wouldn't put the gothic in there') First released their debut album 'Fallen' in 2003 and followed that up with their live DVD 'Anywhere But Home' in 2004. In 2006 with Wind-UP Records they released this album 'The Open Door.'
In my oppinion it is a great album, although I do prefer their previous album 'Fallen'.
Their tracks 'Lithium' and 'Call Me When You're Sober' both have Music video's which are to a great standard.

The Album Tracks
Torniquet 4/5
Yes this
one is on 'Fallen' But this is a live version. This track proves that Evanescence are Brilliant Live..A catchy chorus with flawless vocals Amy Lee really puts her voice out there in this track.
Sweet Sacrifice 5/5
This is an excellent track , It has an awesome rhythm that is consistent through out the track. More amazing Vocals as usual from Amy Lee, She never fails to amaze me and others I know.
Call Me When You're Sober 5/5
This is an excellent track with a superb video, its worth checking out on youtube. It starts off with Amy singing and a few piano notes then the guitar, bass and drums are bought in and the track really picks up from there. Amy sings the lyrics with a flawless voice and leaves you mesmorised...I was anyway.
Weight Of The World 4/5
This is a great track, it has everything that makes it amazing. A great Bass line, Awesome drums and Excellent guitarring and as excpected awesome vocals =]
Lithium 5/5
This actually is quite a slow song at the begiining but thats excellent because you think its going to be a slow song all the way through and you get a little shock when the guitar kicks in. It has a lovely Piano melody at the beginning which is lovely even on its own.
Cloud Nine 3/5
I wasnt that impressed with this track to be honest, It has an interesting beat but that little chant or whatever it is throughout the beginning ruins it and Amy's voice isnt as good as it is in other tracks...she could (I can't believe i find myself saying this) do better in this track.
Snow White Queen 4/5
This track was wrote for Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, but I don't think it was used from what I heard, I have never seen the film so I wouldn't know wether they used it or not. The track has superb vocals and an awesome riff. The chorus is catchy and really it only lacks a little with the bass line, its not that impressive.
Lacrymosa 5/5
The band have an orchestra behind them which really sets this track off in my oppinion, They also have a choir which gives it an eerie edge in a way. Amy Lees voice really leaves you in shock because it is the best she has done on this album and this track leaves you wishing the track would carry on a little longer.
Like You 4/5
The song has a slow start but it does pick up eventually. I love the effects they use with the guitar. The piano melody is beautiful when played on its own too and gives this song that little bit of the push it needs, Its got a simple but effective beat it also.
Lose Control 4/5
Another beautiful Piano melody and some real awesome vocals given from Amy Lee. This track has a great beat and some really interesting lyrics. The track REALLY picks up about 01:15 into it with an awesome rhythm that leads to a great riff.
The Only One 5/5
I love the lyrics/vocals to this track they have an eerie feel to them. The beat is superb and this has to be one of the best tracks on this album. Amy Lee exceeds herself in this track, she really is a great role model.
Your Star 4/5
A track that really gives the listener something to think about. You don't know wether to like it or dislike it. The piano melody is not at its best and doesnt really fit with the vocals when you actually listen carefully but it works. Amy's Voice is excellent in this track. The great thing about this track is when your bordering on your answer wether to like it or not it picks up as if the band have tricked you in a way. It is a great track all together.
All That I'm Living For 3/5
I like this track but I find it gets a little annoying after a while and I never thought that this band could acheive that. Amy's voice is great but I think the beat and rhythm clash a little...the beat eventually gets boring and the song just goes a little down hill.
Good Enough 4/5
Well have to say this is a good enough way to end the album =] It has a great Piano melody at the begining and a great orchestra behind them. it takes about 01:00 for the song to actually pick up. The vocals and lyrics are brilliant and I just love this track, there isn't really much more to say.
All in all this is a good album, I just think it is a shame about those one or two tracks that could do with a little tweaking. Deffinatley worth it though, I cant remember when I bought this but I know I have got my moneys worth from it.
