Advantages: 8 albums of pure quality.
Disadvantages: Their popularity has decreased in recent years

...As a seventeen year old at the beginning of the 21st century I really shouldn't like bands like the Beautiful South. No, instead popular culture tells me I should be listening to either dance ‘music' (or as I like to call it randomly selected sounds put together in any old order and repeated several times) or punk bands that shout a lot (a slight improvement on dance, but not much). But, for some reason, I have not gone along with the tastes of the mass audiences. Instead I like the more relaxing tones of indie-like bands such as the Divine Comedy and blur and a bit of rock in the likes of Queen and Bon Jovi. One band, however, takes preference over all other. They are, of course, the Beautiful South. The Beautiful south have been around for a long, long time. They came into existence in 1989 after the brake of The House... Read review

It's a Beautiful World For TakeThat

Advantages: Great songs, nice lyrics, Mark, Jason and Howard sing a few too.
Disadvantages: A couple of songs that are a bit slow and dull.

..., and they began to stick in my head. Overall I think this is a fantastic album. Gary's vocals are as strong as ever and it's really nice to hear the other band members sing the main vocals- Mark sings 3 songs, Howard 2 and Jason 1, while Gary sings the remaining 6. I like Howard's vocals, although they are not as strong as the others I don't think. Mark does a good job on "Shine" and the others he sings, and I was pleasantly surprised by Jason's voice on "Wooden Boat", I think he has a very nice voice that we don't get to hear often enough! I'll ''Never Forget'' Take That-Beautiful World

Advantages: classy pop feel to it,mostly slow in tempo but some good lyrics
Disadvantages: some tunes are a bit bland

...and a more mature feel to it. The title track sounds a little like “Reach Out” . However, “Beautiful World” is a more rounded track, still a pop track but this time more mid-tempo than a ballad and louder musically and vocally. It just isn’t quite as effective, though and just seems to be missing a certain something that would make it another great track. “Hold On” starts with a guitar,mark owen obviously,nothing special really. We're back on more familiar ground with “Like I Never Loved You At All”, as once more you’re faced with a guitar led pop ballad. This song is a personal favourite of mine. It sounds more like their old stuff. With the bass line and guitar, “Shine” is already a more interesting track before the vocals ever get going. Mark Owen takes the vocals again, but the song has a kind of Beatles influence and a certain... Read review
