...on at the time of recording. The heavy sense of loss and longing also hangs over this record like a calming breeze, particularly in the Needle and the Damage done, a heart-felt song written about Danny Whitten - guitar player in Neil's part time backing band "Crazy Horse".The line "every junkie's like a setting sun" always stands out in a way that is both timeless, evocative and beautiful. The other stand out song for me, is Old Man - a yearning and poetic song about an old caretaker who lived in Neil's Broken Arrow farm in California. The words strike a chord with me, particularly how the already wealthy 24 year old Neil Young refuses to be constrained by the trappings of fame and how the dignity of the old man in the song is something which Neil's sees in himself, or what he wants to see in himself. Tacky Flows From The Young MC

Advantages: A couple of big tunes
Disadvantages: Generally weak

...Young MC released his debut, "Ston Cold Rhymin'" off the hype of his hit single, "Bust A Move". The Eglish-born, New York raised rapper performed a mainstream Pop version of the genre at the time (1989), and little was heard from him following this album. 1. "I Come Off" To kick the album off, we have something which is very much of the time as we get into something which fits the sounds of the late eighties, especially the Pop world and how it became a lot more Hip Hop-influenced as it had fianlly been recognised as a fully-fledged genre in its own right. Along with a sample of Doug E. Fresh's "The Show", you have a little Aaron Neville, and it really hypes the thing up as it begins. **Four Stars** 2. "Principal's Office" Tracks such as this one are likely to have really brought down his rep in the Hip Hop world... Read review

From Now On-Will Young

Advantages: Vocally very impressive and strong.
Disadvantages: Musically & lyrically this album is pants!At best it is generic pop that really doesnt stand out.

...In 2002 British singer Will Young became the winner of Pop Idol. Soon, his debut single "Anything Is Possible/Evergreen," released on February 25, 2002, became the fastest-selling single in the U.K. Of course this doesn't mean it's any good. In fact, other than Will Young's voice being really lovely, the song (lyrically and musically) is poor. Although I am not a fan of Young's, my mother is so I will try to be kind about him. As a person I find him to be really interesting and I believe that he is genuinely a nice bloke (or at least that's how he comes across in interviews). I also do really like his voice, which has a really innocent soulful quality. IN my opinion this album is the worst and after this they do get better. This was bound to happen after winning Pop Idol (as there is a lot of pressure for an album to released... Read review
