...Therion are an excelent band i love them and have most of their albums including vovin, deggial, crowin of atlantis but i think secret of the runes is their best. If you havnt heard them before i think the only way to describe them is opera rock / metal, they have an orcestra, violins, guitars and quite a few diferent singers so you wont get bored with the same vioce. a couple of the songs have this funky singer where they do a sher like effect on him sounds awsome "sand man".

Advantages: Plenty of catchy riffs, solid production, great fun Disadvantages: Not very original
...Swedish metal band Bewitched's 2006 album 'Spiritual Warfare' starts off with an excellent three and a half-minute breakneck black/thrash number by the name of 'Fucked by Fire', but immediately following this track the album slows down into a series of mid-paced, dirty, punky guitars and tremolo riffs that are hugely reminiscient of Darkthrone's recent efforts, merging this with the murky, downtuned, chugging sound of 'To Mega Therion' era Celtic Frost, even borrowing CF singer Tom G Warrior's trademark 'UGH!'s when the songs demand it.
As with modern Darkthrone, the music is for the main part a mixture of mid-paced heavy metal and sloppy and groove-heavy old school punk, accompanied here and there with the odd melodic rock guitar solo and a combination of hollered punkish vocals and rough black metal screams. Advantages: Erik Rutan's guitars and Howard Davis' drums are mostly quite good. Disadvantages: Weak.

Just as every growling death metal bloke sounds indistinguishable from the rest, tenor Martina Astner sounds pretty much exactly the same as the other women alternating between soft singing and bombastic opera wails in gothic metal bands around the world, but her background with Sweden's opera metal godfathers Therion at least proves she's one of the more competent, only becoming too piercing and deplorable in select songs. One problem that she isn't necessarily accountable for are the absolutely abominable lyrics, littered with the worst, most basic and desperate rhymes and the most simplistic emotional subject matter extrapolated from each song title ("Come enter my realm of emotion ... Come swim in my rumbling ocean").
