I really like the album. According to the Guardian: " Visconti treats him as a handsome Latino melodramatist suffering from a kitsch surfeit of imagination as much as a damp, exiled Mancunian miserabilist with a cold tendency to nostalgic self-obsession. Ultimately, Visconti helps transform Morrissey's dogged oddness and phenomenal fussiness into pure magic. Love him or hate him, there's no one better at loving and hating."

the limitations of early cinema are readily apparent. What is also evident though is that because of this the story is a lot stronger than you would expect, at least in a dialogue and characterisation sense.
Dick Tracy will never set your world on fire should you ever see it but it does make for an entertaining hour plus of mystery thrills. It fulfils all the B movie expectations of the era quite convincingly, and back then B movie meant a movie that was shown before the main feature (much like you have support bands at gigs) rather than the modern day meaning of being a substandard straight to DVD release.
Though it has to be said there are many better examples of the genre around and freely available to buy on DVD. If you are interested in this one it can be bought for a nominal fee on amazon, though oddly enough it is the one missing one in ...

Where to start with this fantastic return to form by Morrissey
Irish Blood English Heart was a great advert for what was to come but didnt really prepare me for the love and power I feel everytime I listen to it.
For once Mozzer isnt all doom and gloom as he forgives Jesus for his various sins and points out how much he loves America DESPITE all its bad points.
The album does have its bad parts as well. All The Lazy Dykes it a case of a good title with very little to back it up. Thankfully this is the only weak spot.
Let me Kiss You is rumoured to be a release for Nancy Sinatra which is a shame because it would have made a good third single.
The last two track on the album are my personal favourites but overall I think this album offers something for everyone.
