I first discovered the truly melodious tones of Faith Hill while watching Pearl Harbour (where the title track of this album is featured). Previously rated alongside Shania Twain for the country sounding aspect of her voice and Leann Rimes for her soaring, angelic voice, Faith Hill is defiantly one of the best singers America has produced in a while.
Faith Hill is from Georgia in the USA and some of the roots of her upbringing and culture can be heard in the songs Let Me Go and Piece of my Heart. Other albums include Cry, Breathe and Faith.
There You’ll Be – the title track, the smash hit song from Pearl Harbour, beautiful soaring lyrics and very moving song, almost brings a tear to the eye.
This Kiss – a change of mood entirely, a much more upbeat song, again on the romance theme but much more uplifting and has a happier tone than the previous.
Breathe – a slower, more melodic song, good background music, starts off very slow and quickens up, progressively moving onwards to a large crescendo for a powerful chorus.
The Way You Love Me – a song much more at home in the dance genre, a classic pop song, quickening beat, ideal for shaking your stuff on the dance floor!
Let Me Let Go – reverting back to the slow and mellow tunes of Breathe, this song has a relaxing feel to it, with Faith’s souring voice being the prominent feature as well as the subtle beat underlying it, again a crescendo for the powerful chorus.
Piece of My Heart – better known by myself for the quickened dance version, a very commanding and forceful song, reverting back to the classic pop genre, really like this one!
If My Heart had Wings – one of the more unknown songs, never released as a single or used in any films, compelling lyrics, quicker beat than most with a louder accompanying musical background that many of the other songs.
There will come a Day – starts with an eerie, almost hollow ghost like feel, an uplifting song which will restore your faith after a bad day, a truly get happy song!
Love will Always Win – a big, powerful ballad, the title track of a previous album re-released for European version, a huge crescendo for the chorus, very moving and emotive.
My Wild Frontier – a song with a clear story to it, powerful and moving at the same time, you’re man (your wild frontier) has been taken from you and then an angel comes to take your child, tells of memories and feelings.
You Give Me love – talks of a relationship and feelings, relationship with a man, feelings of a relationship that the majority of us will be able to relate to, leaves a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Somewhere Down the Road – questioning song, a slow, mellow sound to it, one of the only ones that makes use of backing singles, not one that is comes to mind when I think of the album.
Over the Rainbow – the classic Judy Garland song, beautifully song though.
Breathe – the original USA version of track number 3, starts off in much the same way, slightly slower but apart from that much the same!
The price of this ranges from £7.49 up to £10.00 as recommended by Ciao, I’d say this is good value for money if it’s your type of music. The inlay provides all the lyrics and some background information which adds to the appeal.
An emotive and moving album, defiantly worth a listen if you like laid back, fairly mellow tunes. However there is something for everyone, from the dance and racy track of “The Way you Love Me” to the soulful and heartfelt “Breathe.”
