Album Notes: All That Remains: Phillip Labonte (vocals); Oli Herbert (acoustic & electric guitar); Mike Martin (guitar); Matt Deis (piano, bass); Michael Bartlett (drums).
Advantages: Warm production job, pounding aggression with soaring choruses, very diverse Disadvantages: Short tracks = Short album, I want more....
...'All That Remains' bring their finest material fourth on this, their third album 'The Fall of Ideals'.
This is 'All That Remains' successor to the equally as great albums 'This DarkenedHeart' and the bands beginnings on 'Behind Silence and Solitude' (Now re-issued with brand new artwork). Although not quite as good as the leaders in this territory 'Killswitch Engage', these guy's sure as hell give' em a run for their money, and in most places excell over all the other bands in this territory. It's a shame that these guys haven't become as big as their fellow bands like 'Chimaira', 'Killswitch Engage' and 'Shadows Fall'. I believe if 'All That Remains' fourth album continues with the progression that they have made since 'Behind Silence and Solitude', they will surely be up there with the big four of this generation.

Advantages: An amazing allround album Disadvantages: One or two poor tracks
...The follow up to This DarkenedHeart is a more melodic offering. Some hardcore All That Remains fans would probably raise an eyebrow at this until they place the CD into their CD Player and give the album a listen. You instantly get sucked into the superb mix of powerful roars & melodic singing. Tracks such as This Calling, Not Alone & The Air That I Breathe best display the bands slight change in style & it is apparent that they are crowd pleasers. The band also try their hand at Death Metal with The Weak Willed. Although in my opinion it is there weakest offering on the album it displays the flexibility of the band. Overall The Fall of Ideals is one of the best albums I have heard this year & you wouldn't go far wrong by buying it....

Advantages: Fantastically inventive 80s art-pop Disadvantages: A couple of weak tracks
...The Talking Heads early period, with Eno as producer are for me the most interesting of their career and yet most of their albums have only one of two really good songs and then the rest are good but nothing really new and fresh. When I was a student I started getting into them a bit and HMV was selling their albums in the sale for a fiver each, so then armed with my student discount I was paying about £4.50 each and so I bought most of their back catalogue, most of which I enjoyed but if I had to throw them all away and keep one the choice would not be a difficult one.
I would keep Remain in Light.
Now why is this? Why does it stand out so far from the rest, surely all their albums are the same: homogeneity of art-pop. I say not and I can also say why. Remain in Light is an unusual Talking Heads album because unlike most...
