mixtape This Is My Promo Vol. 1 that got him established as a prominent figure on the UK urban scene. Having recently recorded with The Streets and toured with Dizzee Rascal, Sway now brings his debut album. This Is My Demo smacks of class. The production--all put together by the man himself--is sophisticated and varied, shape-shifting between hip hop, two-step, r & b and rap and infused with subtle Afro-Caribbean touches and a great deal of humour. Sways storytelling is sharp and he is more than capable of switching personas (one minute the English gent, next the streetwise rudeboy) and even his rhyming speeds but better than that--his gags are genuinely funny. Whether satirising fashion, poking fun at Kofi Annan or imagining embarrassing sexual moments with his girlfriend, he brings a lightness of touch to the game thats eternally refreshing.--Paul Sullivan

Sway was put up against rapper such as "The Game", and "50 Cent" for a Mobo award prior to the realise of this album. Sway walked away with the Mobo in hand. Which is proof of how talented this young English rapper.
The album art for this album seems like there could have been so much more, however the pros outweigh the cons.
Although this album may be more expensive compared to some of the other earlier released albums from other artists this is a definite must have for anyone who appreciates strong lyrical talent, and humour.
This is my demo is an inspiration to everyone in England's underground and shows that rap isn't going to be dominated by American artists for too long.
Advantages: witty, honest and fresh Disadvantages: I can't contrive to think of any!
...contribute in my assessment of this offering (first of five?!) from "Little Derek". Amusing, honest and, at times, disturbing this album represents an intriguing account of growing up in 21st century London. In contrast to the machismo of his contemporary American counterparts Sway manages to inject some self-depreciating humour into this record, which acts as a welcome antidote to the posturing of the 'bling brigade'! Humour is rife within this ... ...you find yourself laughing at this record the fist of reality will be hammered ruthlessly into your consciousness to remind you in no uncertain terms about the dark reaches from whence it came. "Pretty Ugly Husband" is a horrifying expose of domestic violence that is backed by a soundtrack of unpleasant screams and terrified protestations. A serious track from a serious artist. By the looks of this first major offering it really seems that "Little ...

Advantages: Some great tracks, great production, above most other UK music. Disadvantages: couple of weak tracks near the end.
'ThisisMyDemo' is the debut album from London Rapper Sway aka Sway DaSafo. Sway was British born from Ghanaian origins, he produces a lot of his own work and has established the company DCypha Productions.
Sway first arrived on the rap scene at the age of 16 in the Phynix Crew, entering local mc battle competitions, after a high profile final lose to Chester P of Taskforce Sway, and the Phynix Crew, got together with more rappers to form the Crew 'One'. After some solo success with the track 'Still On My Own' Sway left One and started to pursue the solo career, releasing the 2 legendary mixtapes 'Thisismy Promo vols 1&2' which gained him massive amounts of attention, whilst basically re-launching the mixtape market in the UK rap scene. Major labels from The beats to Def Jam UK came calling but Sway refused to sign to anyone who ...
Advantages: Original Disadvantages: A couple of average tracks
"ThisIsMyDemo" came out in 2006, and was released as the debut album from the British MC of Ghanian descent, Sway (DeSafo). The performer is one of few UK acts who I enjoy listening to, and with his hit, "Up Your Speed", and featuring on other tunes, such as the Mitchell Brother's "Harvey Nicks", and became attracted to his humerous style of rapping. He differs from other UK Rap acts, as he doesn't fall uner the Grime category, as he keeps it Hip Hop with his style, and doens't get dragged down by what the UK scene often offers. He at least part-prodces each track, and shows how he contrasts from the general Grime sound in this form, and at times sounds to be in tune with how things were going out in the US at the time.

Sway gets things going in a big way with this one as he immediately shows what he is ...
Advantages: Some lovely songs, great DVD extra Disadvantages: Not many, some harder to listen to tracks though.
is also why Sway beat Fiddy at the MOBOs, something he has to be proud of.

Song to Song description
Hmm, this could quite easily end up being cringe worthy, but I feel that the only way to do this CD justice is to give each song a description; I will try not to make them too long, or too embarrassing.
Track 1 - ThisismyDemoThis track is an amazing introduction to the CD, it is an amazingly strong track. It not only introduces the album, it tells us about Sway, it gives us his background and it prepares us for the amazing standard that we can expect from the rest of the album.
The track begins with a young boy claiming to be Sway AKA Little Derek introducing why he turned to music, that may sound like a bore, but it is a very strong entrance behind an extremely powerful tune ...
