Marilyn Manson they felt it necessary to protest outside of venues when he is performing. So there you go. Antichrist super-star. Manons's 'image' and 'style' evolves with each album and there's always something a bit new and different in the roles and characters and themes he plays with. At the time of Antichrist the ideas were already in place and it was not a part he created but a role he readily accepted. 'Anti people now you've gone to far..here's your anti-christ super star..' I think it all very unfair. Surely a person should be allowed to express his or her views and opinions just -Churches and religious people express their own views and are in the main not harassed about it.... you aren't forced to listen to this man and his music. Ah the American freedom of speech and such, but god forbid someone actually PRACTICE this in ...

Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals

Advantages: Fantastic variation, and some of their best songs.
Disadvantages: Songs are all fantastic, but there's no real structure to album.

-paced on the album. Very controversial lyrics, though! Track 8 - I Want to Disappear When I want an edgy, attitude laden Marilyn Manson song, this is one of the two on this album I'll skip to. Great lyrics, powerful vocals that make the transition from a screamed word, back to singing in an instant wonderfully. Track 9 - I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me) Mid-tempo song, good beat and slightly odd lyrics once again. I like this song, but I find that the bridge and chorus make this for me, as the verses seem a little bland. Another song for which you'll find yourself singing the chorus line (in this case the title of the track) for several days down the line! Track 10 - New Model, No. 15 Incredibly fun and faced paced song. Great guitars, and vocals make this probably one of, if not my favourite, attitude song on the album. Track ...

Shock. Cock. Rock. Marilyn Manson. No.

Advantages: I'm above these boxes
Disadvantages: Yes I am

Well, yes. Usually I'd wear a mask of cynicism and merely say Marilyn Manson (the man and the band) aren't too worth of praise. But the first time I heard 'Mechanical Animals' I arrived at a surprising turning point. I began to realise that away from the mass market shock image that the kiddies love so well, well, somewhere in there was both groovy music sharing a depth with The Beatles (ie "catchy" "disposable") and above that pretty fine lyrics. 'Great Big White World' sets about making the long play take flight. I have to take my hat off, aside from sounding great I really am quite partial to the lyrics. My hat shall now remain off until the end. Far from being shock-cock-rock this song is an articulate and thought-provoking examination of a world that has lost all its colour, or rather has been drained of all its colour ...
