... This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For is a little naive in places. Songs will sound a little random, it could definitely be a lot tighter at times, but there are guitar solos aplenty.
The EP contains 4 tracks, and is just under 20 minutes long.

Advantages: Heavy, early material Disadvantages: A little random, not as good as the album, lyrics hard to make out
...music. Which is good, because this EP isn't too bad at all. It's just a bit of a pity really that all their songs sound vaguely similar (you might spot a connection once I get the track-by-track section...)
All of the band's members are under 20, and it shows in their music. This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For is a little naive in places. Songs will sound a little random, it could definitely be a lot tighter at times, but ... ...see,
Alone, on this silent beach''
3. Aptly named song to say the least. Lots of Raaawwwrrring here. This is my favourite because, and I don't know how they did it, but there's a pretty neat section at 1:30 where the guitars do a sort of buppa-buh-bum-bum thing. Sounds pretty cool. Again, like the other two songs, loud and quite, fast and slow bits.
Key Lyric : ''And if you think you're alive, Then you're better ... more
If you like your metal, then no doubt, you've heard of Sheffield Deathcore mob, Bring Me The Horizon. Blending elements of Death Metal and Hardcore (Deathcore see..), BMTH have enjoyed some success since emerging from the North of England music scene. Numerous support slots with many bands incl. lostprophets, Killswitch Engage, and currently I Killed the Prom Queen have earned them much success. They've also had a bit of media coverage through the likes of Kerrang! Magazine, and Rockworld TV. Also of note, they won Kerrang!'s Best British Newcomer at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards.
However, it hasn't been all rosy for BMTH. Even though they are a metal band, they've had a bit of stick because of the way they dress. They're all fringes see. Very un-metal, but the band say the way they dress has nothing to do with the music. Which is good, because this EP isn't too bad at all. It's just a bit of a pity really that all their songs sound vaguely similar (you might spot a connection once I get the track-by-track section...)

1. I don't know how they managed to get that sound from a guitar, but it's different to say the least. Almost like an horn, but not... Then in the middle it goes Pacman on you! Fast in places, slower in others, louder, then almost silent (see, random..). As you'd expect, lyrics aren't understandable, but thanks to the internet...
Key Lyric : ''Nail the casket one more time'' Screamed obviously.
2. Pretty cool song title if you ask me. Again, like the first song, heavy, loud, fast and slow. Pretty technical in places. Can you see what's happening here..
Key Lyric :''This cherry sunset withers, Our words, as frail as paper, A dawn I thought we'd never see, Alone, on this silent beach''
3. Aptly named song to say the least. Lots of Raaawwwrrring here. Again, like the other two songs, loud and quite, fast and slow bits.
Key Lyric : ''And if you think you're alive, Then you're better off f***ing dead''
4. Probably the song where you'll be able to make out the most lyrics on. Some nice technical guitar work, and drumwork make this song probably the most marketable of the 4. The last lines of the songs sound like they've been sung by a zombie. Wierd, most definitely.
Key Lyric : ''You're a traitor to my heart, You're a traitor to us all''
TIWTEOYSWMF is consistent to say the least, but not neccessarily in a good way. Each song sounds remarkably similar to the others, and that's going to turn a lot of people off from the start, but I suppose that is just how Death Metal is. For fans of the genre, it's allright, there are certainly better bands out there. BMTH are the band then for the scenesters. You know the ones, all fringes and wearing tshirts of bands they've never heard before. They're not great, as far as origionality goes, but that's not to say they aren't talented. There's some very good guitar work here, and Oliver Sykes is a pretty good vocalist, with sounds ranging from gutteral rawrs to screams. It's just a pity really, that they can't be a little more varied.
If you do buy this EP, I definitely recomend you look for the lyrics. You won't be able to understand them listening to it, but reading the lyrics, you soon ralise they're not half bad, if you're into lyrics about poetic death. It's a shame you can't work them out for yourself just by listening.
If you've already got the band's album, Count Your Blessings, then you'll probably like to hear this just to see how much they've improved as a band since it's release. The album, is a lot lot better than this EP. If you're new to BMTH, then I highly recomend you buy their album first, then this EP, if you can find it that is. No more copies are printed, and it can be found on ebay sometimes for very high prices indeed. My advice is, if you can, iTunes. It might be the Clean version, so no naughty words, but for £2.37, you can't go wrong for a bit of BMTH history.
In conclusion, if you're a fan of the genre or the band, it's worth a purchase. If you like your lyrics clean and understandable, you need not apply here.

Review of This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For - Bring Me The Horizon
Advantages: Brutal, poetic, energetic, sick Disadvantages: BMTH are now being considered the ringleaders of 'scene'. Oh dear..
...on kids' lives, telling them to hold on and that the world is f****d up but its okay because you can do amazing things if you try?
Oli Sykes is the heavier, nastier, tattooed version of Kurt.
Try this one on for size, if you think you're hard enough. ...

THIS IS WHAT THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT IS FOR, the debut EP from Sheffield young guns Bring Me the Horizon showcases a hungry band determined to the leave their guts out on the floor with every song. Already a hit in their home country, the EP is being re-released by Earache in the states, and it sounds every inch an invasion. Brutal, twisting riffs collide with gnashing hardcore breakdowns while singer Oli Sykes flays his vocal cords raw. Each song covers a ton of metal terrain, and all of it's absolutely burning.
