Advantages: Great track listing, heartfelt singing. Disadvantages: A few songs are oddly placed.
...comparable. And it was from this point, that Craig had to prove himself.
And prove himself he did.
Because whilst I love Escape The Fate pre-craig, I love this band as much too. Too many people are comparing this band now, that have matured and grown into their musical style, to the Ronnie era of the band.
Throughout the album, the pace stays quick and continuous. Though their songs start off heavy and mellow, ... ...be surprised to think that this is the first song of the album. As first songs go, this is pretty excellent. Although all the songs are notable, we'll pick a few out that really seperate the band from the rest.
From the first track on, it gets heavier. Songs that stand out at this point are "Something" - a deep, heartfelt tune, slower than the rest - which flows easily into "The Flood". When The Flood is playing, ... more
When Ronnie Radke 'left' Escape the Fate (note: read, went to prison), there was an uproar in the ranks of fans who supported EtF. Rumours were shot round, till they found that finally, the band had gained a new singer.
His name was Craig Mabbitt, and he was previously the lead in a band called Blessthefall. And then, more uproar occured. First came the "We want Ronnie!", then came the more intense "Craig sucks, so we're not going to listen till Ronnie comes back!". And thats just not fair. Craig and Ronnie have to different singing styles, and so they're not comparable.
Though their songs start off heavy and mellow, then hit you hard once again, the message is loud and clear - "We aren't the same band that we used to be, and you'll have to either like us or lump us."
The album kicks off with the addictive "We Won't Back Down", and you will be surprised to think that this is the first song of the album.
When The Flood is playing, you'll be excused for wanting to make a moshpit on your grandma's vintage floral carpet. It's heavy, it's sexy, and it makes your ears excited.
As well as "Something" and "Ashley", the other most noted love songs are "You Are So Beautiful" which is fast paced and enjoyable, and when live is excellent. The other is "Harder Than You Know", possibly the most mellow song on the entire album. Although it sounds a little out of place, it's beautiful, and something you could listen to all day.
All in all, this album is pleasing, and the artwork is amazing. It's definitely worth buying for yourself, or your music loving teen.
Advantages: Several enjoyable tracks, moderate vocals. Disadvantages: Nothing compared the previous album, poor lyrics.
...has a great voice on this album, but not on par with Ronnie, and unfortunately this isn't the only problem. The lyrics are much weaker on this album compared to the previous, and some of the songs are so unbearable to listen to, 'Ashley' for example, it all sounds so cliche and, it's hard to describe, but it doesn't feel like the 'Escape the Fate' I'm used to. Some of the songs however are extremely good, 'The Flood' is extremely catchy and 'The ... ...would be unfair to compare this album to bands such as 'The Used', but I can't help but draw the comparison. To sum up, this album seems much more 'radio-friendly' and will reach out to possibly a whole new audience. Old lovers of the band will still like some of the tracks, but keep a clear mind. ...

Review of This War Is Ours - Escape The Fate
Advantages: Two great songs Disadvantages: Not really improved, ridiculous lyrics
...the band is without them. This album fails in all three of these areas.
So first things first the new member Craig Mabbit is he good, bad, average? Well, his vocals aren't particularly impressive but when you consider the audience of 14 year olds he's trying to reach it's probably the most outstanding performance they've ever heard. Nowhere is his vocal capability demonstrated better then lead single; "The Flood" containing what is easily the best ... ...the more pathetic parts of this album is the abysmal lyrics. In between lines such as; You all stop and stare, I don't need your pity and;
Ashley baby you make me feel so alive, I've got purpose once again. Yeah, Yeah. You just know you're in for a treat. The lyrics to every song on this album are so ridiculous even Brett Michaels would find them cheesy. In fact lyrcisim is the biggest fault on the entire album. Often I don't judge bands by lyrics ...
