Album Reviews: Down Beat (3/97, p.58) - 4.5 Stars (out of 5) - "...superb album of Tibetan Buddhist chanting....The monks' deep groaning generates ethereal overtones that hover in the air while austere melodies slowly rise to climactic peaks....effects that might have blown Edgard Vares's Mind. It's both musically and spiritually enlightening." JazzTimes (12/96, p.109) - "...Tibetan chant often involves swirling overtones, and ritual drones, as well as the occasional sound of drums, cymbals and the oboe-like shawns. The five unadulterated chants on this album...can have a transcendental effect on listeners, whatever their spiritual inclinations."
Advantages: Current American Idol winner, a musician Disadvantages: None
...This...... is the current American Idol Winner.
David Cook is the American Idol that nearly never was. He actually was not initially going to try out for the television talent show, he was at the auditions to support his brother but, after some pushing from his brother, decided to audition too. A good decision, because he became the winner of the seventh season of American Idol in 2008.
David Cook is classified as a Rock, singer-songwriter. His sound is definitely very rocky, but in my opinion quite soft rock. He has a very deep, raspy voice that lends itself very well to this type of music. What I really like about him is that he can actually play an instrument, unlike a lot of the new pop stars out there today who are just manufactured. He plays the guitar and actually used it quite a lot when he was performing on Idol. If you look...

Advantages: Superbly written, absorbing, great story, developed characters Disadvantages: Nothing at all
...It's not very often that I get excited about a book release, as I just don't like to pay the prices of newly released hardback books. But I do make an exception for Jodi Picoult's novels, and when I heard a few months ago that Change of Heart was to be released this month, I saved up one of my Waterstones vouchers especially for it! I eagerly picked up my copy on Thursday and took it to the counter and started reading it as soon as I got home, and managed to finish it at 1am on Sunday morning..it was that good that I just couldn't put it down.
Like all of Picoult's book, this one has a controversial main storyline and a court case, so nothing new there. Even though they all follow the same format, they make for wonderful reading and every page absorbs me, I just have to keep reading to find out more. This particular book tackles...

Advantages: free game Disadvantages: tactical, requires thinking
...Hearts is a game you can find almost anywhere. It's more than likely on your PC as one of the pre installed games you find in applications. It's available on all the free gaming sites online, to be played against other people or computer generated opponents.
-Idea of game-
The idea of the game is to get rid of your stockpile of cards without gaining any of the heart cards as they mean big points, and this is a game where you try to collect the least amount of points possible.
-How to play-
The game is played with four players, and the deck of 52 cards is dealt equally between the four. Spend some time quickly sorting your cards into suits at this point. One thing to remember is that each heart card has a point value of one and if you are unlucky enough to have the Queen of spades at the end of the game, this is worth thirteen...
