Advantages: good variety of tracks Disadvantages: entirely in Spanish
...Mi Tierra sees Gloria going back to her latino roots as all the tracks on the album are sung entirely in Spanish. It's surprisingly good - much better than a lot of her Englush language offerings. There is the usual mix of salsa, merengue and slow ballads, all of which have their own charm and conjure up images of the "mi land" of the title - Cuba. My favourite of all the tracks has to be the ballad "Con los Anos que me quedan" (with the years I have left) which has a beautiful melody and even lovlier lyrics. The more up tempo numbers would be perfect to get everyody into the party mood - especially if the rum and tequila are flowing! An enjoyable album, but helps if you understand Spanish....

Advantages: some good songs and musically very melodic Disadvantages: not as hard edged or as memorable as some other works
...This mid period R.E.M work is somewhat unfairly overlooked.Itdosn,t have the instant hits of" automatic for the poeple "or "out of time",it,s much softer than "new adventures in hi-fi" and not as tough as"monster". What it does have is songs that given a chance can charm and entertain. It starts a bit slowly with the down beat "airportman",then goes up beat into the "lotus" these are two weak tracks and gives a very slow start, but things soon inprove "suspicion" is a soft ,stylish track with a very understated vocal lead by michael stipe.Next comes "hope" with it,s very familier backing this track has a simple vocal,it,s almost a narrative about someones fright agaisn,t illness and the questions this brings about,it ends in a long drawn out battle of the instuments invovled."At my most beatiful" a turely lovely song great piano...

Advantages: Some very enlightening songs with a vast array of styles Disadvantages: Some lyrics are brutually honest and made me slightly uncomfortable at times
...has a great instrumental section also displaying the talents of his skilled band. I'm even feeling happy just thinking about this one. Great beat, great tune, great use of vocal...it's just great really!
>>About: This song seems to be about how much Williams is disliking living in England and about his choices to move to L.A. Everything is bigger and better over there for him...the weather is also an advantage it would seem, well so he says. That's it really, simple. Everyone seems to be going there, so why not?
Track rating: 11/10 (what do you mean that's cheating?)

13) Cursed – 4:01
"Tell God he's got a dirty angel" (oo la la)
>>Sound: Hmm...not such a good'un...instantly forgettable. I can't even begin to hum the tune. This one feels like an album filler...
