Time For Accordion - Various Artists

Advantages: Lyrically strong. Not simply a re-tread of the previous album
Disadvantages: Not quite as tight as 'Scarecrow'

...Following on from the mid-west tales of 'Scarecrow', The Lonesome Jubilee moves Mellencamp's writing to the city. The acoustic roots of the previous album seep through at times, but this is a harder-edged record with the emphasis on rock rather than folk/country. A key to the sound of the album is the introduction of the fiddle and accordion which provide a unique blend with the electric guitars and give the record it's signature. Mellencamp's recurring lyrical theme of people impacted by a greedy and naive society is mixed with uplifting songs that border on pop. Downbeat tales of unemployment sit side by side with reflections on the best years of youth. Advantages: Somewhat refreshing, easy to listen
Disadvantages: A tiny bit repetitive

...Amelie was a great success worldwide and listening to the soundtrack makes you relive the best scenes of the film. Yann Tiersen is truly a great composer and this soundtrack is so full of positive feelings that can make you feel happier just by listening to it! The sound of the classical instruments used is very clear, he also used some light effects on a few tracks, like old vinyl record crackles. The melodies are simple and so beautiful, that is what makes it so easy to listen. The presence of the accordion really reminds of old French songs, a bit in the spirit of Edith Piaf's. All the ingredients are there to make it music you can listen to at any time. I listened to this CD over and over again, while traveling, studying, cooking, and it cheers me up and makes me dream. ...**What Is It?** The Celtic Collection vol. 3 is Ceilidh music. A celidh, by the way, is a dance with only scottish dancing. This CD has 12 tradtional songs so it would be great if your where hosting a Ceilidh or if you just love dancing! This is a one disk CD written by various artists. **Quality of Music?** It is great! It is very clear and you can hear the accordion espiecially well! There is no voice in this and only the main folk instruments accordion,fiddle and a little drums. It is very well recorded so you can put it as loud as you like or a softly as you like and you can still hear it clearly. **Cover Quality** Very nice. Has a celtic not around the edge as a border then a view of the ocean. Think it is Loch lomond but not sure? Anyway very nice picture and the back with the traclist is clear.
