I had seen this CD advertised on the TV several times and the tracks which were featured made it sound really good. I was not prepared to pay the full price for it though so wanted until it came down a few pounds. The CD is a double one and has 40 tracks, 20 on each disk.
I am not going to give my opinion of each individual song as it would make this review go on for far too long. The track lists are as follows:-

Well all I can say firstly is why can we not have an album like this with the original singer of the songs on, why do we have to have so many others trying to pull off big powerful songs and just not being able to. Yes this is aimed at Jonathan Ansell, he was a singer with the group G4 who found fame on X Factor, don’t get me wrong I think he is talented but just not quite good enough to take on a big Freddie Mercury song and I let down by this.
The whole CD does have a good mix of songs and a lot of them are by people who I have not heard of, in a way this is good as it bought a lot of new singers to my attention but I personally would have liked to have the songs with the original singer and with the original arrangements and not changed like some have.
Some of my favourite tracks include, Over the Rainbow by Eva Cassidy, I like this one as it is such a lovely song and I think Eva had an amazing voice and she really sound like she means every words she is singing. I also for some reason really like Something Inside so Strong which on here has been sung by Michael Ball. I am please that he kept the song to the original music and did not alter it in any way. He has a nice rich powerful voice and does this song a lot of justice. I do have a soft spot for Russell Watson and his version of Nessum Dorma is very good and it shows the power in his voice.
The songs which really did not excite me on here first include You’ll never walk Alone, now don’t get me wrong I do really like the song and especially the meaning behind it but Lesley Garrett should never have tried to sing this, her voice is just too powerful and she sings it way too high and really makes a mess of it. I also don’t like the fact that there are a lot of new singers on here trying to pull off good old fashioned songs and put new twists on them as they just don’t work. Faryl Smith who appeared and was bough to out attention on Britain’s Got Talent is also featured on here but she is singing one of my all time favourite songs which always makes me think of my Nan, Amazing Grace, but I don’t she is quite experienced vocally enough to do this justice.
In was not at all surprised to find one particular singer on here. I think he has an inbuilt radar to let him know when a new compilation CD is being made and he just has to spoil a song on it. Yes I am referring to Donny Osmond. I do apologies to all fans of him (if he has any) but all the similar CD’s to this have him featured on it. It would not be so bad if he sang some of his own songs but he never does and he really winds me up by singing an emotional song with his happy voice!
I think that this CD could have been improved greatly by only containing one CD and putting the best 20 tracks on it instead of making it so long with a lot of pointless songs, but then this is my personal opinion and we are all different so my favourites may not be everyone’s.
The cover of the CD in a cream colour and has a lovely picture of a girl in a lilac dress crouching down and looking like she is thinking which makes for a nice calming shot. The back cover of the CD has the track list for both disks. Inside the CD cover the track list can be found again with details of each song including running time and recording details.
I managed to get this CD for just £7 on a recent trip to Tesco which I felt was so much better that the original £14 price tag and overall I am going to recommend this as it has some very moving and powerful songs which indeed will give the listener time for reflection and will definitely bring back some old memories. I just wish that all of the tracks were equally as good and not so many weak links.
