Tje Ni Mousso - Amadou Bagayoko

Advantages: Fantastic Album! Great diversity.
Disadvantages: There aren't more like it!

...I was first introduced to Amadou and Mariam on the sole premise that they sang (at least in part) in French, possibly a bit of a risky strategy for choosing music. However, 3 months on, countless listens in, and one fantastic live show later, it had proved to be one of my friends' best reccommendations. As a fan of most types of popular music, what really appealed to me about Dimanche a Bamako was the variety of tunes and styles on offer, from reggae in "La réalité" to the dancey "Coulibaly". However, this is by no means an album without a sense of genre; this variation is united by their Malian roots, as well as Manu Chao's expert production, which is one of its qualities that have drawn many to this album. ...'s murder of his three daughters and stepdaughter, "Contempt Breeds Contamination" is about the death of Amadou Diallo, and "And Sadness Will Sear" is based upon the murder of Matthew Sheppard; all infamous deaths in the US. There's something about Trivium's new album which I can't quite put my finger on. It's not as if the albums going to become a timeless classic or an 'album for people of all ages', its just different. Of course its heavy, but with a name like 'Trivium what would you expect? If your even considering buying it I would say do. But be warned you need to listen to it a few times to really appreciate its magnificence! ...Shepherd. Attacked because he was gay. 7 - Becoming the Dragon This is about the Coy Carp and it's journey to becoming the dragon, the problems faced along the way. This is defiantely a message from Heafy - one day, they will be the beast, DRAGON! 8 - To the Rats Bullying - and Heafy's hatred of it? A quite frank approach to bullys - break every bone in their face. 9 - This world Can't Tear Us Apart Opposite to Dying in your arms, this is a song about a love Heafy once had. 10 - Tread the Floods Is a song about struggle, learning to tread the floods, to keep a head above water. 11 - Contempt Breeds Contamination Amadou Diallo was killed by 4 plain clothed police officers.
