Advantages: Brilliant fun family film, would make a great Disney ride!
Disadvantages: Not a classic

either but human form is more realistic than robot. He looked more like something out of Star Wars and I just felt this didn't fit with the general idea of aliens that the film carried. Race to Witch Mountain is a remake of the 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain which has been modernised to create a much more exciting and adventurous film. With Disney's spark of magic, and lots of action and special effects, this makes a brilliantly fun movie which will be entertaining for the whole family to watch. As I was watching the film I could just imagine what a perfect name and ride this would make at the Disney parks so I'm hoping that it will spring up somewhere within the next few years! Review of Race To Witch Mountain (DVD)

Race to the death!

Advantages: Fast paced action and lots of bloody gore and fast cars
Disadvantages: May be too gory and violent for some

Another recent film I have seen at the cinema was Death Race which looked interesting to say the least! In fact my Wife and I had seen this and taken in the same day! Quite a typical Jason Statham movie with lots of action and plenty of criminals, this was actually a lot better than we had expected it to be! The film was written and directed by Paul W S Anderson. The plot - Jason Ames is an ex con and car racer who on the day he is made redundant by his company comes home to his wife and baby daughter. Whilst putting his daughter to sleep, his wife is killed by a masked man who then knocks out Jason and places the knife in his hand framing him for her murder. Jason is then sent to Terminal Island, a prison unit out to sea where convicts take part in a live filmed 'death race' to gain freedom - win 5 races and you're free. However ...

Review of Death Race (DVD)

Eric Clapton pays homage to Robert Johnson.

Advantages: Robert Johnsons music is showcased by great musicians.
Disadvantages: Not all Robert Johnsons songs were covered.

I rate this excellent because the guitarist pays homage to his hero, in his style the musicianship is without fault throughout. It is nice to see the Blues played with such energy and obvious enjoyment by all concerned. The only thing that could be a negative is that not all of Robert Johnsons songs have been covered by Eric Clapton yet and subsequentely presented on an album. I hope that these will be done on a future album, as EC has covered most of his work. I have personally heard Eric Clapton play "Milk Cows Calf Blues" and "Little Queen of Spades" from this album at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Manchester Evening News Arena and the live versions were even better than on the cd.
