The Room Is On Fire As She's Fixing Her Hair
Review of Room On Fire - Strokes (The) by Andy.mack

Advantages: All 11 tracks are amazing
Disadvantages: The two year wait between albums

...on the album is “Reptilia”. It opens with the drum coming in slightly before the guitars, before they both build together towards the verse. A lot longer intro this time with the repeating drum/guitar rhythm until the vocals come in. Again Julian’s voice is strong and the structure created in the music really compliments them well. The beat stays the same throughout but the varied guitars in the middle sound incredible. The track also features the name of the album within the lyrics. The next track is “Automatic Stop” another that carries on the fast paced start to the album but changes the style a little. It opens with just the guitar for a few bars before the drums and vocals come in almost simultaneously. The song moves along at a pleasant pace, with the guitar really leading the way nicely and the vocals sound fantastic. The songs are all well... Read review

A Masterpiece
Review of Kind Of Blue [Remastered] - Miles Davis by WrexhamAFC

Advantages: It's Miles Davis at his best
Disadvantages: Not long enough?

...The blurb on the back of this CD claims that K.O.B. is a “defining moment of 20th century music”… and they’re damn right it is. The Sony Music 1997 version has 5 tracks on it ( 6 actually, but the extra is an alternative version of the Flamenco Sketches – Trk. 5) – and they are 5 of the most amazing jazz pieces in history. The way Miles Davis’ trumpet, John Coltrane’s tenor sax, and Julian Adderley, smooth together is an amazing feat of improvisation – that can never be repeated –ever. This is why every one should have this album. If you only have one jazz album – have this masterpiece. It is hard to explain how well it works – but the musicians pick up a general riff , and improvise around it. The result is classic stuff. It begins with possibly the most famous jazz pieces – “So What” , and goes on to a more harsh “Freddie... Read review

Emotionally Compelling
Review of Schindler's List (The Classic Film Music Of John Williams) - City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra by Holliss

Advantages: has a variety of different moods
Disadvantages: not suitable for all people

...These pieces are from the Oscar winning film 'Shindlers List'. The theme, which John Williams wrote himself, is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is an emotionally compelling which was performed by the renound Itzhak Perlman. John Williams has come up with a true winning piece here. This piece is suitably for a variety of listeners, and anyone who has watched the film will know that the soundtrack is a must have. This piece is uniquely original and mirrors none of William's ealrier work. Without this soundtrack your music collection will never be quite complete. Go buy it!... Read review
