Advantages: 12 great songs, great atmosphere, sound quality is really good, many pix in the booklet Disadvantages: of course the quality of the songs is not as good as in a studio recording... so there's just one negative point: No new songs... *g*
After the release of the brilliant "Somewhere fay beyond"-album BlindGuardian toured in Japan for the very first time. Of course it was something very special to the band and as their album had sold very well in the land of the rising sun they decided to record their both shows in Tokyo for a livealbum.
The album starts out with the intro of BlindGuardian's second album, "Follow the Blind": "Inquisition" is playd as the intro and you can already hear the fans in Tokyo screaming for their idols. As soon as the band starts off with "Banished from Sanctuary" it seems like all doors of hell break looss and the crowd just goes on partying all the time.
The sound of the recording is really good and you can clearly hear all the solos, the mighty riffing and Hansi is good at voice. He just could better up his English a bit, remarkable ...
Advantages: Excellently captured atmoshpere and sound quality Disadvantages: A bit short maybe?
This is a treasure from the past! BlindGuardian from their early Speed-Metal days. Recorded live on their tour following the release of 'Somewhere Far Beyond' the sound on this album seems pretty well-processed for a one-performance recording. You can hear lamost everything and there's plenty of atmosphere (and crowd participation) without any of the nasty distortion and level imbalance that these recordings often suffer from. Sit back and close your eyes and you can almost imagine you're there.
Content-wise this contains the usual tracks you'd imagine they'd play from 'Somewhere...' along with old classics like 'Goodbye My Friend' and 'Welcome To Dying'. There's a difference in opinion about the final Beach Boys cover, but I quite like it actually. Despite myself almost!
I wouldn't suggest this for newcomers to BlindGuardian as ...
Advantages: A good value, excellent read. Disadvantages: None.
--THE GUARDIAN---
When I buy a paper I want one that offers great all round content. I really look forward to Saturday when I purchase the Guardian. It's just really good value. I don't really get much time these days to actually read a newspaper during the week, as I am so busy writing all the time, but I still try to find time to read a few newspapers at the weekends. My newspaper of choice for Saturday is the Guardian broadsheet.
Sister newspaper to the Observer, the Guardian has been in business as a daily newspaper following the early success of the Manchester Guardian. The Guardian is quite simply great news with in depth analysis. What I find useful about the Guardian is its sectioning of content. It's a good value read with intelligent comment and Saturdays just wouldn't be the same without it for me. Awarded ...
