In 1976 Jeffry Hammond retired from the band and was replaced by a more fluid bassist John Glascock (or Brittledick as Anderson often referred to him onstage). Hammond was a more precise bassist but John’s fluidity added a new lease of lie to the band as can be seen in the recording of this album. This album was based around an idea of a musical story about an old fashioned rocker who had been around so long that he had just came back into fashion. It was reported that Adam Faith was being considered for the starring role. This was yet another project that didn’t get off the ground however. The title has gleefully been quoted by the music press ever since. The lead song is good but this album is a bit toot pop/rock for Tull mainly because the songs were written with someone else in mind (Adam Faith). Not a great effort but interesting.
