Advantages: Surprisingly good thriller Disadvantages: Not all that memorable, strange ending
with animal names in the title (although there is no 'cat' in this film - cat o' nine tails refers to the leads that our heroes have to follow). I've seen a number of Italian giallos now, and although giallo refers to crime and mystery, I have come to expect aspects of horror and much sexual behaviour. This film, therefore, came as a bit of a surprise, because it is a straight work of crime fiction with nothing out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, I was impressed by what is actually a gripping detective story told surprisingly well.
The biggest surprise amongst the actors was the appearance of Karl Malden as Franco Arno. Karl Malden is best known for his superb role in A Streetcar Named Desire alongside Marlon Brando and I didn't really expect to see him in an Italian giallo. However, he is very good. This is the time of year when all of the tacky presents appear in the shops that the recipient will feign great appreciation for on Xmas morning and send to the charity shop in the new year. As well as tacky toys and gadgets the bookshelves are filled with all the latest z list celebrity biographies and other rubbish books that no sane person would surely buy for themselves. I grew up with these hanna barbara cartoons.
Being a cat lover Topcat was always my favroute, these are so much better than the new genre of cartoons, these are classic, and channels such as the cartoon network still show them, so this proves that they are being watched and loved by a new generation of children.
Basically Topcat is the boss, he lives in a dustbin, in a city alley.
His feline friends include benny (the short fat round blue cat) hey tc !!

officer dibble the rather dumb city copper runs the precinct that they all live on, and they always manage to scam him, the storylines are pretty much the same, usually they end up helping officer dibble regain his stature in the policing world !
