Advantages: Lots of great songs from the eighties Disadvantages: A few not so great
I was in my local record store the other week browsing for ideas for mothers day for my wife from our two small children when my attention was caught by this particular offering. As most of you will be aware from my previous reviews, one of my great passions is eighties music and I couldn't resist buying this. Not for my wife I might add but for myself.
So what was it that caught my attention?
Well to be honest the graphics on the CD hardly grab your attention. Basically it consists of a dark blue cover with light blue lettering declaring that it is a Top of The Pops Album, with this letting enclosed to make it appear like a circle. The BBC logo is also detailed but this is hardly prominent either. In red lettering at the bottom of the circle the album stipulates the 80s, and provides details of a selection of artists in ...

Top of the Pops must be one of the oldest running music programmes still going. Its formula hasn't changed much in all that time, they show a selection of the hits of the week with a run down of the charts. There can;t be many people who don't remember atching it as children avidly waiting to find out what had made it to the number one spot and to see how long they would last there. And look at some of the famoud people who have hostd it over the years ( some more successfully thn others from tony Blackburn to Noel Edmonds ...

I enjoy reading the Top 10 opinions and decided that as nobody had submitted an opinion yet for the Top 10 1980's Pop Singles I'd rack my brains and try to compile my own Top 10.
The records I have chosen aren't necessarily my favourite singles of the 1980's but whenever I hear the records I have chosen I am reminded of something that happened in my life at that time.
Rather than selecting loads of records from 1 year or by one artist I have selected 1 record from each year from 1980 through to 1989.
