Advantages: Great songs, especially for dancing Disadvantages: Very 80s. Wait, is that a disadvantage?
Vince Clarke was formerly with Depeche Mode, another band that relied heavily on electronic music, synthesizers and enigmatic types of lyrics. Clarke wanted to journey out from Depeche Mode's darker tendency to a much more pop-oriented and dance-oriented sound of his own. He recruited Andy Bell after auditioning many vocalists to front the band Erasure, and after turning out dance music throughout the 80s and 90s, has become one of the better-known unknown musical artists.
Erasure never really made it big in America, although they did have a string of top 40hits, some one which made it into the top 10 for brief stints depending upon what Billboard chart you were looking at. Yet at every dance club even to this day you can put on a remix of "Sometime" or "Chains of Love" and the floor will be filled.
Maybe one thing Vince Clarke didn ...
Advantages: classic tracks Disadvantages: too much previously found on Pop!
~0~ hits ! - the very best of erasure ~0~
2003 has been a bit of successful year for Erasure . Firstly saw the release of the highly successful erasure album ' Other Peoples Songs ' , a compilation of classic songs given the erasure treatment . from it were released two successful singles , namely ' Solisbury Hill ' and ' Make Me Smile ( Come Up and See Me ) ' . Next followed a UK tour , which was again well received . Then came the surprise release of the erasure classic ' Oh l'amour ' , only this time remixed , and again it proved a big success .
to finalise the year , Mute records have released the compilation album ' Hits - the very best of Erasure ' . In the meantime andy and vince continue to work on new material.

Advantages: good album with hardly any 'loo breaks' Disadvantages: the odd dodgy ballad
Erasure do seem to be experiencing difficult times recently (their latest album flopped sensationally at no.45) but they will always be remembered for their uplifting, catchy pop songs that lit up the charts on many occaisions. This album was released in 1992 and went straight to no.1 where it spent the next 5 weeks. Thanks to Wheatus covering their hit 'a little respect' the album has been re-released and given a new lease of life and looks set to gallop up the charts once again.
Tracks:
1. who needs love like that - Their first release flopped at no.55. An ultra camp beat along with Andy Bells' great voice fitted in perfectly with the electro pop era.
2. Heavenly action - Also flopped at no. 100 (that's what i can a good flop). Very much in the same vein as the first track.
3. Oh l'amour - Again it flopped at no.85. A great ...

Album Notes
'Total Pop' is a comprehensive "best of" collection from British pop duo Erasure. Famous for their anthemic and catchy synth-based pop songs - from 'A Little Respect' to 'Love To Hate You' - this pioneering act are possibly best known for their 1980s output. Featuring keyboard maestro Vince Clark and the powerful voice of Andy Bell, this is a timely reminder of one of Britain's most talented and underrated pop acts.
